SC4 won't start

OK, I have been having this problem for a very long time now. I pop-in Disc 2 of SC4, the drive spins up to full speed, and immediately spins down, slowly. I don't even get the splash screen of the Bridge.

I can get into the disc just fine and read everything in Explorer, so I copied and burned a SC4 disc using Nero. Exactly the same problem that the original disc had. I can get into the game, but that is only possible the first run after I install SC4. (I re-installed SC4).

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3800+, overclocked to 2.64 GHZ, 1 GB of RAM, an ECS EliteGroup KNI Lite, a PCI Express ATI x1600, overclocked about 10 MHZ, with 512MB of RAM, 1536 MB of Virtual Memory, and XP.

Any suggestions?

I don't have an Icon, and I have clicked the rungame.exe in the cd. I'm sure it's not an Autorun Problem. 3.gif

Just checking. Check for corrupted files, maybe. Try backing up your cities and reinstalling.

Do you think I could try to get rid of all the mods, and see if that works? It would make sense, kinda. lol

I have 21.4 MB of mods, but very little of them. I am going to completely clear out SC4, mods, Uninstall, and delete all of the huge amount of my 3 small cities. (sarcasm), and see if that works. If not, I'll get back on to Simtrop. Thanks.

not nearly as much as I have, but if you're running a slow machine, it may effect you.

You can create a shortcut on the desktop by right dragging the Simcity 4.exe to the desktop, and choosing to create a shortcut.

I don't think just coping the disk with Nero will satisfy the CD check.  If the disk you are trying to use is also a copied disk, that might be the problem.
