SCS from a City Builder Freak's POV

Long time lurker --- first time poster.

Having played many games published by Maxis/EA including SimCity 2000, SImCity 3000, SC4, SimTower. SimCopter (and I hate to admit it but the Sims2 as well) and quite a few of the games from the Sierra City Building series like Caeser II then Caeser 3 and on to Caeser 4, as well as Pharoh and even Tycoon City New York and throw in Sid Meyer's Ralroads!  and Sunflowers 1602 A.D. for good meaure. Did anyone besides me ever play Space Colony?

I feel that I have learned excellent skills for making wonderful and exciting creations from the tools the developers have given me to use within their games.

I love the challenge of starting with nothing and developing and growing from the ground up.

Now there have also been other challenges with most of these games. Crashes, lagging screens, more crashes. Patches applied, drivers updated and new content/mods added. The list is endless.

I always challenge myself to play fair (mostly without cheats, OK maybe money cheats) and see what I can make happen. Of course many hours have been spent totally immersed into whatever world the developer has imagined and I jump right in to see what there is to discover.

There has been a lot said about SCS in these and other forums, mostly bad reviews about how this isn't like SImCity and should not have the name attached to it. Also the fact that Maxis had nothing to do with it makes it seem like this game isn't worthy. I disagree. It is certainly very different and should be given a chance. Of course everyone else is entitled to their opinion. This is just mine.

Having said all that I thought that I would try and create a City Journal to showcase my talents.

I also like to tell stories and have written many emails to my friends spinning tales of Legends and Myths. Mostly recollections of my growing up in a small town and the people who's paths I have crossed.

Stay tuned and see what you can do with a game like SCS if you put your mind to it.

H

    Hmmm.

Ok can anyone give me some clues as to the best photo sharing website and how to get just a full size 800x600 image to display without all the crap?

I am new to the pic posting thing.

    Thanks,

    H

I use Photobucket - but like all hosting programs, there should be a "direct link" (or something similar) option on the picture hosting site you are using. I will take a look see and see if I can find anything obvious there.

EDIT: OK, it looks like in flicker, you use the "Grab the photo" link, which is in the second field in your photo uploading tool.

Then, open your reply window here, click on the little yellow icon with the mountain and sun (insert/edit message), and paste where it says "URL". It should then hopefully work.

imageshack.us is a good site to host files as well. use the "direct link to image" url and fpollow the same instructions above to insert into your post.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the Flickr suggestion. It sure wasn't obvious (to me).
