Yep, it was... Solar Plants, Wind Farms, Oil Plants, Gas Plants, Gas Stations... you name it, it had BP on it... cept the Nuclear Plant, the only VIABLE alternative. God, wake up BP.

'OMGZ WEER LIEK SO ENARRGEE FRENDLIE!!! WE DUNT DUMPPE TINGZ IN LAEKZ, TEM ARE LIEZ!!!'

...

Honestly... gaming is probably one of the only times we can escape the capitalistic tendancies of the world... ah, wait... not anymore... good job EA, nice to see you draining the funds off the Oil Companies because nobody's buying your games anymore 18.gif

As far as I saw, everything shown with the BP logo is part of the current BP portfolio.

So, BP:S (Sorry, SC:S) was never intended as a game so much as a learning tool?  More a means of showing the world what a great company BP is than a means of entertainment?

I'm not insinuating it is not a game or that it is not entertaining, but this does say a lot about the focus of the game, does it not?

I've never really said anything about EA's change of direction for SC when they introduced SC:S, but how do you feel knowing that EA will (as many have said), seemingly, do anything for money, even sell one of the most popular franchise's of all time to a company to use as an advertizing tool?

I don't mind the advertising. It is a fact of life in this day and age. If a game can pull in money from companies for advertising, why not. You see it in every movie made nowadays. Also, I think most would agree that the best custom content for SC4 is the real life copies of popular buildings and companies. I see no problem putting this content into the game and getting more revenue as a bonus. Now on the other hand, if BP says we get exclusive rights to all our content and no other competitors can be made in the game (no Exxon, Shell, etc.), that would be an issue. I can see it now, the only store is Walmart, all restaurants are Taco Bell, etc.

Dunno what BP thought they would gain through this... Brainwashing Children into thinking Oil companies are doing some good?

Brings back the chilling idea that the NEXT Sim City may be funded the same way... Wal*Mart, MacDonalds, BP, Disney, pretty much every Corporation thats willing to do anything for money will see Video Games as an oppertunity now, they'll be clamoring to get something out of any up coming title... not only do EA make crap games now, their massive capitalistic sellouts too.41.gif

To the best of my knowledge, members of the modding community that make BATs and lots of real world buildings or businesses aren't being paid by the corporations that own the reql world counterparts.

Obviously, some don't see that as significant, but I definitely do.

John-SJ, There is no way for BAT'ers to get money from companies for their efforts because the companies did not ask them to make models for them. If they wanted to make money from their lots, they would have to try and sell their advertising efforts to the companies.

Exactly!  BATers do it out of love or creative expression.  Which differs considerably from EA's (or BP's for that matter) motivation.
