OK, so there's some pictures of my first attempt at a romantic city.  It's still small and the going is slow.  Why?  Because every friggin' building needs to be selected from a menu and plopped.  It's difficult to avoid repetition - but is that such a big deal when most streets have row after row of identical buildings in reality?

I seem to be spending a lot of time painting the terrain gaps in.  As soon as people start developing their own textures for that, I might be able to make something that looks half decent.

Interface is clunky.  Building roads is a total nightmare, made all the more difficult by the akward camera controls and the inability to zoom out very far.

On medium graphics settings (as shown in the shots) I'm not getting any lags at all.

Overall, I'm not slating the game as viciously as some have.  It's not Simcity as we know it, and it's not terrible.  Not as good as City Life however, which is saying something.  I can see that it's quickly going to get boring and even the desire to end up with a full map of a nice pretty city isn't keeping me going here.

The graphics look good. You middle two links are combined in one making it a bad link but I was able to see them by changing the image number. I don't know if I want to put a lot of time into a game with so many things missing so I probably won't buy SCS.

Ok some friendly advice. Use the shift key, select a building. This allows you to duplicate any building already built. SAVES TONS of time. Also you can go into the games systems folder and adjust all of the settings for camera's. Map sizes and so on. The games totally awesome when it comes to customization! Right now Im on a map three times bigger then the starter city map. I also can zoom about twice as far out but that needs some tweaking because of a code issue.

Id imagine in a month or two you wont even recognize this game hehe.

    This is good news.

I'd like to think that this game has the potential to be modded into something much better than what it is now.

I feel the same way about the roads. They're slightly rage inducing in this form. 26.gif

Good screenshots. (the links should be fixed now)

Looked at you first photo and I remembered that one of the reviews said you don't even need roads, so I was thinking of using those paving just like you did, so with that, we can get tight European alleys.. well not quite, but close enough. Thank god for lack of realism and logic in the game.

Agreed. City Life's street were a pain at times, but this can be 26.gif
