SC4 Mapper Trouble

Hey,  I have been looking all over the board for a solution to this problem but I cannot seem to find it.  If I missed it, cause someone please direct me to the right spot.  Basically my problem is I downloaded sc4mapper, extracted the file, tried to open it and the logo of the developer pops up and then it stops.  A log then appears in the sc4mapper folder showing this message:

I have used this program before on my old computer and had no problems.  I am using Vista on my new computer.

The .pyo extensions indicate that this program is written in Python.  You probably need to get the Python run time for Vista, if there is one.

What exactly is Python?  I have never heard of that before?

Python is a computer language.  It is most commonly used in the Linux community, but version run on Microshaft as well.  Google for the run time package.  I think it is a freebie.

Does anyone who uses vista have the same problem with sc4mapper?  If so, how did they fix the problem?

You could try loading up Python's XP version and set the XP emulation for it.  This might involve many files.

python is also used widley in CIV 4 to mod it and add stuff as well. it's basically a computer language like C++ and linux.

try microsoft.com, perhaps they may have a patch for python related errors with windows and whatnot. my best geuss.

EDIT: u could try and P.M BLADE2K5 from NHP. he had a hand in developing this program along with a fellow NHP member wouanagaine.

I downloaded and installed Python 2.5, to no avail. I still can't get it up and running.

Can someone help me here. I have SC4 Mapper v2.0. Anyway, I was able to use this on before and I was able to get regions out of it. That was before and it has been a while. I downloaded a region sometime before and decided to make create it to a region. It seems that I have forgotten how to create a region.

The first thing I do is:

Press create

click SC4M

choose the SC4M file

Click Save region

I leave the region name as is

then a dialogue error box appears

Error with saving region

A problem has occured while creating the region folder. You should enter a valid folder name as region name

You have to enter the entire path to the folder you want to save it.

IE: C:\Documents and Settings\David\Documents\Sim City 4\Regions\New Region
