Some questions about problems with my city

A couple of days ago I started to build my city which I wanted to make a real Megapolis. What I understood is that this is not such an easy mission 9.gif Well, I will show you some of my problems and I hope you'll help. The first one: My commercial zones are empty. Yes, there are no buildings and i can't understand why. There is no pollution, everything is OK, but my commercials are empty. Please tell me how to fix this problem. mycityvf3.jpg As you can see everything in blue is empty. : / The second question is: I can't understand why my beaches are always empty. They always stand empty without people and umbrellas but I've seen pictures of other cities and it wasn't in this way. The third question: My city is builded by two separate islands. On the first island there are the homes of the people and the commercial zones and on the other one industrial zones. In this way the first island is no polluted but in spite of all these facts my environment scale is as low as possible. I have made parks, grass areas, beaches, but it still is in red. I'd like someone to help me with this, too. And my last question: waterpollutionoj9.jpg What is this "water pollution stuff" ? I've checked my water pollution and it is polluted only in industrial zones which is normal. I built a water pump there but this red advisor didn't disappear. Why? What am I supposed to do? I'll be very thankful if you help me with these four problems. Have a nice day 4.gif

Hello, donnoname!  Welcome to Simtropolis!

1.) Looking at your pictures (thanks for including them, by the way! 44.gif), You'll need way more residential before your commercial areas start building.  Usually in a town that small, you'll need a lot more industry (medium or high-density) before commerce...and if you're industrial demand is low or negative, that means you don't have enough residents to fill the jobs.  Just build more homes, and you'll find your demand skyrocketing after a while 19.gif.

2.) I think the people on beaches are just animations; if you have your "Visual Effects" settings on high, and zoom in, then you should be able to see people, seagulls, camp fires, etc.  If you really want to spruce up your beach, though, you should check out the STEX and search for [Goldiva] (or just click on that link 2.gif).  Goldiva's created some of the best beach props ever, and they'll make any beach look exponentially better.

3.) The "Environment" statistic is citywide; it isn't only factored where the residents are.  You have a good amount of pollution there, but I can hardly see any of your parks (only your beaches).  What I would suggest is to build more parks, and also to plant trees...lots and lots of trees.  The ones in Mayor Mode take time to grow, but if you hold [sHIFT] + [CTRL] + [ALT] and click the "God Mode" icon, it will take you back to the true God Mode where you can plant trees for free 2.gif.  Try doing that, especially around your industry, and see if that helps.

4.) You say you built a water pump...did you also build a Water Treatment Plant?  Those are large centers for getting rid of water pollution.  Water pumps only produce more water for you to use.  I'd go ahead and make sure to build the W.T.P. near your industry for two reasons: 1- that's where the most water pollution is, and 2- that building is a NIMBY (Not In My BackYard) building, meaning Sims don't want to live by it.  Make sure when you build it, you connect it to your pipe network through the little circle thing in the middle, otherwise it won't do much 34.gif.

I hope I've helped you out a bit...if you have any more questions, feel free to ask 9.gif!
