This could be the best Mario game ever.

What do you think of it?

My parents are making me wait till Christmas to get it, even though I could easily afford to buy it 20 times on it's release date 15.gif

But seriously, I cannot wait. It's even got orchestrated music! 4.gif

Well, as the president of Nintendo said:

"This is the first Worthy successor to Super Mario 64!"

With that said, it really sums up the game and its hype quite effectively. It also pretty much says the Gamecube version sucks! I never got a Gamecube anyway... But I have the classic N64 and the modern Wii!

It's looking so good, I did the rare pre-order. I'm looking forward to Galaxy, especially since I was pretty disappointed with Super Soaker Mario... also known as Sunshine.

Well it's out, and I haven't been able to put the game down all week... it's that awesome. It's probably the best console game I've played since Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

If you've got a Wii, you're obligated to buy it and play it all the way through.

Its That good?  I was going to wait till around Christmas to get it, but if you say it is as good as Zelda: Ocarina of Time (The BEST game of ALL TIME!), then I may have to go out and get it.

I guess I will ask for Super Smash for a present instead,

One of my friends has it and it is AWESOME. You can transfer from one galaxy to another and there are totally new enemies and some of the old ones. I think its a little hard because im not very good at using the Wii controller, but the game is still really cool. If you have the money I would suggest buying it.  29.gif

Well, I went and got the game today.

I have only played it for about an hour so far, but my initial reaction is WOW! I can agree with the critics on this one (not like SCS LOL!) that this is one awesome game! So far I am enjoying the storyline, but I am getting a little disoriented on the planets. Overall, I'd give this game a 9.5/10 so far. I love how this game reminds me of the old school Mario games through the soundtrack, characters and those Pirate ships from Super Mario Brothers 3.

The colours of this game are also spectacular! Even though the Wii Isn't HD-compatible, the game's excellent graphics fill up my big screen TV with some outstanding visuals. The president of Nintendo was right. This really is the 1st worthy successor to Super Mario 64!

This game is really fun. I do feel like they kinda took the free form exploration away and now just a 3-d linear platformer. Thats my only gripe. If you have a friend and a second wii, it makes the game EVEN easier. Your buddy can press and hold A to shock the enemies and if they keep the cursor on them, they won't move! Its like cheating,... but NOT! Oh, and the second person can shoot star bits too and help mario jump higher. I don't mind playing second player. I'm usually sitting their watching anyway.

I have to agree.  After playing it a bit more, I really miss the "free roam" experience I had in Super Mario 64.  This time around, instead of exploring to find a star (or do a side job like collecting red coins), its a start-finish gameplay, where it is always at the end of each galaxy/stage.

This also takes away some of the stuff I liked from the classic Mario games.  There isn't an alternative finish (like finding a key in Super Mario World), or any secret pipe to go into (like Super Mario Brothers), etc.  Anyways, I think I proved my point.

After playing around for a little longer, I am still getting disoriented on some of the planets.  My rating has now slid a bit from a 9.5 to a 9, but I still think this is a awesome game, don't you?

I might try it out if I get a Wii.

Yep, SSBB won't be out till February, so SMG has to keep you occupied until then. 3.gif

Super Mario Sunshine was pretty good actually, I loved Pianta Park (or whatever it's called, haven't played the game in a while). SM64 for Nintendo DS was a pretty good remake, the graphics were actually better and there were 30 more stars and multiplayer games. This newer one looks promising, I'd love to try it...

if I had a wii, which was on my Christmas list last year...grrrr....
