Can't open SC4 Rush Hour

I got a new computer, however, I copied the SC4 folder into an external HD. I could play it on my sister's and on my father's computer, but then when I tried to play on my computer I got this bug: the SC4 opens, when the EA circle thing turn to me, the SC4 closes.

So I re-downloaded both regular Sim City and the Rush Hour, when I had only the regular Sim City, I could open it and play normally, but when I installed Rush Hour, I got the very same problem.

Any ideas of how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

You probably didn't get the Registry stuff over.  You have to install the game from the original disks and update it from the SC4 home site.

But I don't have the original disk. And if the problem is that, why would it run on another PC by the very same folder, and crash on mine?

If you don't have the disk, how did you install the game on an external disk?

If it works perfectly well, then why are you seeking help?

Copying files as an installation method is no good.  You must run the installer, which should be included in the download because you need the registry entries.

I think you should tone down your responses Zarp.

I already did re-install nobody, but I still have the same problem.

My computer's specs are listed below, does anything conflict with the rush hour?

    Gigabyte 8VM800 motherboard

    Geforce4 MX 460 video

    dual core 1.6 processor

    1 GB RAM

    Windows XP

With those specs, you should be good to go.  Check your sound driver and make sure it hasn't been stepped on by something.   this can cause a full system crash.

Did you get the Update 1 from the EA site for your region?  The game is the pits without it, if it runs at all.

You got it, my sound is actually not working. Yeah, I got the update.

I'll try to get the sound running and get into contact again! Thanks!
