PROLOGUE

The cold wind was singing sad song in the memory of all those who went into the realm of death. Crimson sky was clauded by the sorrownes of what have happend. Air was fresh and sweet, almost annoyingly nice to breath considering all the destruction that happend in just a few days when land was shaking violently, devouring cities, spiting hot lava and acid ashes towards the sky...

She was making her way up the hill in the need of seeing what was left. Her heart was pounding laudly expecting the worse. Palle-faced with tired eyes she removed the curl that sliped from under her hood and breeth deeply before she dared to look around...

A single tear sliped over her cheek while she was observing the waste blue around the litle green spot of earth...

"It is all gone... " she whispered with trembling voice.

There were no more villages and cities... Water was covering everything that her eyes could see.

"So this island is all that remaind... and few people on it..." thought sliped over her cherry-red lips.

Once again she looked at all sides of the sky before she turned around to gather her people  and tell them bad news.

***

A tired little group of people sat around the crude wooden table. Some silently stared into her face hardly listening to what she had to say, others cryed... It was a sad news she had to bring but it had to be said.

"It is nothing left,... I am sorry..." she whispered and looked into eyes of each single person.

"But... this is not the time to dwell in despair. It may seem cold to say but we must shake the sadness of and start rebuilding the civilization..." her determined voice cut true the evening air like a knife. Everybody startled and wanted to argue but they couldnt find the strenght and they knew she was right.

"We shall mourn the losses after we are done..." she added softly after seeing aproval in the eyes of her people.

                                                            TO BE CONTINUED...

Karin, you have a mastery of terraforming rivaling the best in existance, and a mastery of the English language better than most native English speakers.

Seriously though, the waterfalls look exactly like outstretched arms, which is the look you must be going for. I'm glad you're back. You bring a level of excellence to the CJ section that us others must strive to match.

Scary. Apocalypse story meets fantastic terraforming. That island kind of looks like someone with his head buried in his hands. Like, the skeleton hand rivers are over the face, or something.

    update1.jpg

And it is time for first update... I hope you shall enjoy it.

    chapter1banner.jpg

The sun lazily extended its rays over the land and woke up people sleeping in cold grass under the trees. Fire burned out long time ago for its keeper has fallen asleep near-by. It was cold, yer clear morning.

"It is time..." she said still with sleepy eyes : "We need to start."

They nodded in agreement and as they planned before they fall asleep people devided into groups and went in search of materials and good grounds to start building up their homes. It was hard for they were left with little resuources and were not quite used of using what they had, but still, by the evening few crude huts already stood amist the trees and they were pleased for they achieved much.

    hut1.jpg

"It was good day, we did as best we could," she said with obvious pleasure in her eyes. "Tomorrow we shall build more.. but now, lets eat and sleep, my good people," she whispered softly with obvious admiration for people she had around her in these hard days.

Dreams didnt come with ease and when they did, they were not pleasant ones. It was the sleep of tired souls that survived the end of everything they knew. Another day of building huts and hunting wild animals for food has passed, and another and yet another. After a week, every single family had place to call its home and they were pleased. In the center of village they called Crimson Fall they build a well and with that life become yet a bit easier.

    oldwell.jpg

"We should try to work on the land..." she said to villagers and they agreed. Few people decided to become a farmers and provide for others. They found fertile land and one even had some seeds that he managed to grab before he had to run for his life.

    farmers.jpg

When fall embranced Crimson Fall and change its green in yellow, ornage and red they had corn and wheat. One of the womans knew how to bake bread and she became a respected village baker and filled their mouths with long forgoten taste of home made bread.

    coocking.jpg

"We should build roads..." one of the villagers suggested and all agreed. Some strong men volunteared for this hard work and in the same day plans were done and work begun.

    road.jpg

"We worked hard," she said : "and we should celebrate!"

They were glad to hear those words for they worked hard for months without a rest. They gathered infront of village hall and laugh, and sing and feast. It was a day of fun and rest and when the night creeped over the Skull Hill they falled alseep with smile upon their face.
