Hello ! New to the Forum

 Hello all;

      I thought i would introduce myself, I'm 46, married, have one son ( age 20).  I have been playing Simcity ever since the very first one came out. So i have seen the changes EA. has done, from Simcity, Simcity 2000, to Simcity 4 deluxe.  I have too say that im NOT good with computers, or programs. So like most other games, after playing SC4 for 2 months, it was packed away, Due too the limitations.  I have just recently joined Simtropolis, and i must say; You folks have opened a whole new door way too playing SC4!  If some of you folks are not Architects, in real life, You SHOULD be!  After reading some of the CJs, and looking at some of the other cities, My hat is off too you folks!

    I think for a newbie like me, the single greatest post was ( Greyveil's Tuitoral; Getting up and running).  My problem is, What's next ?  I have just started learning the difference between a Bat, and a Prop. Aswell as learning what are stages.  My problem is Prop paks, and Bat updates.  There are just SO MANY !  I have no real clue as what i should have, what is needed, and what is just nice too have.

    I know that the're are so many different Modders, depending on what style you prefer.  Let me give you an example of what i mean, at the moument i'm working on a farm community.  I have downloaded a few of CSX's farms,  and using the readme files, i thought i had all the bats and props.

 But too my suprise, i still have a few buildings that show up as Boxes, or crops that do.

  Was just wondering if there is any EASY answer, or condested paks?

     Again i would really like too THANK YOU ALL, for Putting enjoyment back into SC4!

After greyveil's tutorial. I say the NAM, a transit mod (found in greyveils sig)   it has many play style option to choose from and has many of the fixes incorperated into it already. Kinda depends on how you want to play the game after that.

 

a:I suggest a money park there are a few on the STEX from $100 per month to billions....play a region in a sandbox mode get to know the game. theres a lot to learn test things out...the omnibus section has many tutorials from beginer to advance play. or try the search forums option to fine common questions that have been asked before. always checked the Pinned threads at the top of each forum, for the basics.

 

B: if your going to surf the STEX and you have a good spec...pick up the BSC and CSX MEGA and  essential packs

these files have a lot (not all) of the dependancies you will need to make the building appear and work correctly, specially if you use their lots (they self install )  Some of the newer buildings many have new props to them and may have to be downloaded seperately

 

as per downloading lots/BATS...go slow and read the readme files   make sure the building work and looks right for your style of play. Try them out in sandbox 

 

try checking out some of the CJ's for idea....or what I do...read them cuz some are just entertaining

 

put mods in 1 at a time...sometimes certain ones may coflict with others, (ya just never know)  makes the easy to find and delete
