Questions Re: Custom Queries

Hi all,

Did some searching on here but came up empty-handed. I have two quick questions:

1. How do you REMOVE a custom query from a lot/model? Is it as simple as deleting the PNG and UI files in iLive and reverting to some original Query Exemplar IID?

2. On average, how much does a custom query add to the filesize of a model file? I know it largely depends on the size of the images used, but do the UI files add much?

Thanks in advance! I hope I didn't miss a really obvious thread that answers these.

1. Yes, simply remove the unnecessary files, and change the "Query exemplar GUID" property to another ID. The easiest way would be to open a file that uses the appropriate Maxis ID and copy this one.

2. It really depends on the query UI. If you're only using a different UI file and some text strings, it's not more than a few kB. Also, the images that Maxis uses for the query are merely small squared PNGs that are tiled. You can use each corner for a logo, or you can add an individual image as logo (I used the latter technique for adding the SFBT logo to the SFBT queries). As I said recently, you should avoid using images, but some logos are fine in most cases.
