The past hour or so i have been downloading extras for my sim city, but now when i go into any region and click on one of the city's i had previously made, or want to make, the game shuts down, exiting back to windows.

Any idea why? :S

Yes, that problem is usually caused by a mod being installed after a city has already been built without it, etc. Have you installed any terrain mods since you played that city or any new mods?

Yeah i think i've installed a few different mods.  I'm not bothered about losing any cities as i was gonna download.  I just don't fancy uninstalling the game, installing it agian and losing all these downloades. 15.gif

    Any way round it?

If you're not bothered about losing the cities you've already made; try starting a new city with all of the new downloads you have. You don't need to reinstall the game. 2.gif

I tried that too.  When i click in one of the empty sections, it starts to load then exits back to windows.  I'm stumped to be honest.

Then you might have some conflicting mods. Would you mind listing the mods you've installed (if it's not too many)?

remove the plugins folder, and try again. this is caused by conflicting downloads u installed. if the game works after doing that. re-install the plugins folder 1-2 plugins at a time until u find the problem.

I couldn't find anything but the transportation mods i downloaded.  Most of the mods i downloaded were the ones you just installed, so they wern't saved in my Plugins.  Godamn it.

Some older transportation mods conflict with the NAM (Network Addon Mod) so that could be your problem.

I hope you fix your problem!

A good example of this problem is what I just went thru with the new day-night mod by gizmo. In my current region I had one large tile that it did not agree with, hept crashing. I tried the mod in all my other regions and it worked just fine. I finally took the mod out of it folder and put it in the root file of the plugins with all my other essentials. And of course now that one city opens up without any trouble. Also since I have been in such a download craze with all the neat stuff thats out there that I do a day daily back up of my region so I can add it back if something wierd happens. l

This is also a good time to say that dirty word.. BACKUP!! You should have a recent copy of your regions and plugins from a KNOWN GOOD session stashed away somewhere else in your system.. This assures that you won't be caught with your pants down and find that you've lost many hours /days of thoughtful work.
