ditching the subway

my citizens, for unknown reasons, decided to ditch my subway network!

in the beginning, i constructed a one-line subway system,(with only 2 nodes/stations) which was used by ppl to commute from residential houses to their industrial workplaces.

i expanded the line and added a few more stations along the line, the usage continues, albeit at a very low usage% (highest was at 15% capacity).

as my city's streets/roads start getting more congested, i added a few more lines, and eventually made a loop for the subway stations.  however, at this point, all the subway commuters disappeared and the car traffic volume spiked up, and i can't get them back to the subways after i de-looped the network.

anyone know what's wrong with my subway design? and if there's anything i should know about networking the subs?

Welcome to Simtropolis! 3.gif

It might not be the subway network. It might be your Sims. Are they all $$$ Sims? Most $$$ Sims will not take mass transit, they are too rich and they think they are too good for mass transit, so they hit the streets with their Sim Corvettes and Maseratis. 3.gif

If the majority of your population is $$, or $ sims, then your subway should still have some use to it. It may just be that your road network is a more efficient network than the subway, and Sims commute to work faster on it than on the subway. Sometimes that is just the case.

Make sure your subway stations are in areas where they are needed, heavy Residential areas. And of course, don't forget to link your large business districts with the subway stations too!
