wasup forum.

when i get to 45.000 people,  my residential zones stop building.  I build a res area, then i get the no road access dot.  Then when they build, i get  the zot again, then they abandon without the no work zot.  What do i need to have my settings on to no use so much cpu?

processor: AMD Athelon 1000 mhz  940 mb Ram 64 mb onboard  ram AGP video card

Thanks

Attachment enclosed for zot

It is fairly common for the no road zots to appear for a short time, once the city gets large. It takes time for the compiler to assign all the details. It might take longer with a slower computer.

As for the abandonment, that is a different issue. There are several reason that could be, too long of a commute, no jobs, not enough amenities.

Take a look at your jobs and population graph.  You need about 3:1 ratio on Sims to jobs.

Also look at your desirability display.

If your education level isn't very high, you need either farms or dirty industrial to employ them.  I think your second set of zots are probably no job (briefcase).  If you are really getting no road zots with the layout you show after building, then check your routes to the jobs.

Look at your commute time display as well.  Longer than about 100 minutes will cause a job seek to fail.

If you have Rush Hour/Deluxe you should get the NAM (Network Addon Modd) to help with your commute.  This is a big modd, and you will have to spend a while with its documentation.  It has some beta parts and is tricky to use.  It cannot be shotgunned into the game.

Your lots that are only 1 grid deep will probably not build for a very long time.  The game builds 1 x 1's only after other stuff is well established, and only with Residential low.

To get things going, try placing some Cs$ near or even in with your R.  Corner stores and such are always in neighborhoods.

If you have a long haul to your industrial sector, you need mass transit, trains, elevated rail, etc.

The no abandonment modd will work with most thngs.  You'll have to test it using a sandbox region.  just create a default region, put it in and try it with everything else you have.  If you get a crash, take it out.

You can get full grown trees by reverting to god mode from mayor mode.  To do this press:

    CTRL+ALT+Shift+click the god mode icon.

Some people consider this a cheat, but it is part of the game for fixing silly errors in terraforming.
