Hey ive been playing simcity 4 on computer for 3 years, and now its become time to upgrade totally......like brand new computer so heres some questions ive been wondering........

1. Will it work on Vista?

2. Can i transfer some of my custom regions from old to new via flash memory?

3. Do I have to redownload all the mods from Simtropolis, or can i use a flash memory for that  too?

4. You Think 160GB is large enough for SC4, 5000 Songs, and close to 15,000 photos?

Welcome to Simtropolis & to reply to your questions:
1.From what i have heard sc4 does work with vista.

2.Yes you can transfer your regions with flash memory providing the card
has enough space for the region or regions your transfering,

3.Yes you can transfer your downloaded stuff from here via flash memory
aswell again providing the card has enough space for all you downloaded.

4.160GB is plenty of space to run the game & for all custom content & all
your other stuff unless you managed to fill it pretty well(near full)then you
would need a bigger drive.

I hope this info was helpful if you have other questions feel free to ask.

160gp should be enough, but perhaps not enough to run SC4 comfortably without any glitches and complications.

Region and plugin files are no more different from Text documents than GIF's are. There should be no problem moving them to your new computer.

Mets_fan41:

SC4 works quite well with Vista.

What I did when changing computers, was to install SC4, then copied the program files, and the my documents folders to the new computer. When you overwrite the new installation with the old folders and files, you don't have to do the updates, and you save any changes you have made to the old game.

I would opt for a larger hard drive, they are way too cheap not to go with at least a 500 GB. If the company selling the computer charges more than 100 USD for the upgrade, then buy a second drive from a retailer.

Another option is to buy a external USB drive.  Western Digital has a 500GB USB for about 130 USD, or an eSATA/USB that comes with Retrospect backup utility for 150 USD.

If your flash drive is not large enough you can do the transfer in smaller sections, by folder, or by file if needed. Then again you can get a 4GB flash for around 50 USD.

Why not burn the files you are transferring onto a CD or DVD?  That way you have an archival backup that can only be destroyed by flood or fire.

Welcome to Simtropolis, Daniel.

You should refrain from enumerating your feathered progeny before the time for incubation shall have been completed, or ...

In this case, it doesn't make much difference which video card you have.  The program is CPU intensive and the eye-candy part is not much of that.  There are real problems with some later cards, especially those built by ATI.

As for the size, I think 160 GB would be enough, because 5000 songs is like 20gb, SC4 is like 1.5 GB, 15,000 fotos is i think like 10/15 GB
