Umm, which type of CAM should I download? My city's demand is rock bottom even wheb I dropped the tax rate to the bottom. When there is a demand( which is rare in my city) the zones won't devolop no matter where I place them.

Due to the CAM being available only on www.sc4devotion.com respectively, you might have to ask over there about the CAM. Camaron has provided a link for you to the CAM, here it is again. There are a lot of threads about the installation process, what the download does for the game, and how it works. Hopefully over there you can find some information on what you are asking. 4.gif

Sorry, I didn't know that there were a second page in this this website, no wonder why I don't see all my new posts on this topic, I was on page one the whole time and I was suppose to be on page two. Foolish me, I really should explore this website more often, but my sister often make my internet connection sluggish by playing a nationwide game that have a lot of other people playing it.

There used to be an option where you could rate a member on a scale from 1-10 but as the ratings system was possibly starting to be abused by some members, it was disabled.

So that means, I am never going to become a real Simtropolis member and my profile is aways going to be the same?

You are a Simtropolis member. It just means that you will never be rated by another member because the rating system was removed. Members that were here before the rating system was removed still have their rating.

    Welcome to Simtropolis, Diyon!! 4.gif

Most of the custom content here requires Deluxe Edition or Rush Hour. So you are good there.

Let's see... what did you exactly download? If its something like the Super Demand Ordinance, you need to activate it in your ordinances.

If its a building that you've downloaded, most likely if its ploppable (which means it can be plopped in game, not grown), it will be in the Landmarks menu.

If you give me a few examples of what you have downloaded, I can help you determine how you can access it in game. 2.gif

If you have the Simolean Modd, download the rush hour version, which is located right here. You had downloaded the Mod for the regular version of the game, not the RH version. 3.gif

I reccommend the Super Demand Ordinace Mod over the Radical Ordinance. With the Super Demand, all you have to do is put in it your plugins and then go to your ordinances menu in game and select it. It should be above "Legalize Gambling".

I am unfamiliar with the Radical Ordinance, but if you read the readme associated with the file, I'm sure it will tell you how to activate it in game. 2.gif

    Hope this helps!

I figured as my first post, I would join the foray here, hopefully this information will be good in this newbie thread.

As you can see by my join date, i have followed the work here for quite some time.  I am not new to the gameplay of SC4, however, new to the modding of it. I have figured out alot of the plugins, such as NAM and others, as well as loading region JPGs to terraform the region. Where I am stuck at is the modification of the game's default buildings.

As stated in a lot of the other posts, when playing the game and builing dense zoning, the buildings very easily become replicated across your cities. I have seen mention of ploppable versus growable lots, but here is my question regarding this :

What is the difference between a BAT and a LOT?

Also, if I am looking for growable buildings, what type of files should I be looking for, and how do I install these for the game?

I am sure these questions have been answered before, so if anyone can explain this in plain english for me, that would be most appreciated, or if it is easier, just point me in the direction of a thread or threads that might help me in my discovery.

Much appreciated! and keep up the great work on the site!

EDIT - my apologies for being premature in posting the above reply.  After more searching through the site (yes, well over 2 hours now), I came across this thread : https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=147&threadid=76286&highlight_key=y&keyword1=loading%20regions that looks like it answers most all of the questions I had regarding BATs and LOTs, as well as maps and regions.

    Hey Mrhc4!

Glad to see you back and active on the forums. 2.gif

That is a very helpful thread created by our site's webmaster, Dirk. And basically in there is all you need to know regarding BATs and LOTs and their differences. Also, many buildings that are ploppable (especially by NDEX) on the STEX, usually come with a growable version as well. As I said, NDEX has a lot of these buildings that are both ploppable and growable.

I totally understand what you mean by when you say the buildings are repetitive. That is one of the biggest problems with the game today. To change this, I reccommend downloading lots of custom content from the STEX into your game to variated your skylines/cities. The more variated it is with different types of buildings, the more realistic it looks.

Hope this information helps! 4.gif Please don't hesitate to post or PM!

i have question about residence average income, why is when i have high-commerical buildings and high residential residence living in my city the income of the average is goes way down when u have a population 500,000 residence and when I have 100,000 the income a lot higher ranging from $50k-80k average income a year. so how can i keep the average income from going down to less than $50,000.00 a year???

The game is full of bugs and not very accurect. I faced that problem before, The city's residental average income used to be around 150,000$ until the  the game decided to go super hard on me and dropped the city's demand rock bottom. After I solved the problem( by using the Super Demand Ordinance modd), the average income now is around 90,000$. I wouldn't bother to fix that problem, it's not important at all.

A BAT file is a building that been edited by using a program, I can't remember what is the program name. A LOT file is a building that been created by using a different type of program and the building is made up of parts that came from other buildings.

Thanks for the tips. I started with the NAM and then decided to add the CAM with the RCI packs ...and that was it...yanno keep it simple...BUT!!!

I AM not even half way through installing these four or five addons and I have downloaded like 100++ files just to fulfill the dependencies of each file...what a mess....lol

cant they pack all the dependent files together...geez it would be so much simpler??

I am going to be installing and running cleanitol like a thousand times...

and Im sure it will be worth it...but yanno

    Peace

I barely know what the CAM is, I've never experimented with it or even bothered to download it. But from my experiences with the NAM for as long as its been around, its the superior choice for the best results in your city. I wouldn't bother packing your plugins folder with things that will have little or no effect overall on your city. It'll only just slow the game down more. This post isn't to label the CAM as unessential or a waste in any way; but the best results I've seen and heard from are those that use the NAM.

Thanks for the info. I have downloaded the NAM file and will start to look at the buildings and other things. A very good forum for newcomers.
    Thanks again.

Hello, I am new here to the forum.  I am having trouble downloading new lots to my plugin folder  in the SimCity 4 website.   I downloaded a lot, but where did it go?  I checked my '\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins' folder and it appears that nothing is there.  Does anyone know how I can fix this.  I have the deluxe version of SimCity 4.

    Thanks,  Joe

    Hey, welcome to Simtropolis!!

What files are you downloading? It may be possible that you have not downloaded all the dependencies and therefore the plugin in its entirety is not seen in game. All landmarks, ploppable buildings, etc.. should appear in the landmarks menu. All civic lots like hospitals and schools should appear in their own menu, and parks and recreational lots should appear in the parks menu.

EDIT - read SC4BOY's response first. My response is geared towards if there were files in the plugin folder and they weren't showing up in game. If you get that problem, then consult my post. 3.gif

Most likely you downloaded it to a folder which you did not select, but accepted the default.. If you go there again and download something, it SHOULD give you a "save to" window with the location specified in the top window. Go there to find your downloads (you don't have to actually download the lot.. after you write it down, you can cancel)
