Hi forum folk,
I've recently upgraded to OS X 10.4.1 Tiger and have found that SC4 (Version: 1.0.2) quits after running for 5 or so minutes adn returns to the desktop.

Has anyone else found this glitch? I guess Aspyr will post an update when they get around to it.

I've emailed them and will keep this post updated.

Terry

A strange problem...

I upgraded to 10.4 a few weeks ago and 10.4.1 a few days ago. So far, the only problem I've had is that once in awhile, my one-way streets turn white. Odd, but tolerable. Have you tried anything else, such as reinstalling?

Did the copy of 10.4.1 you bought come with a free person. I know at least if you bought it at a Mac Store, it should have. They might be able to help you with combatibility issues.

I'll be interested in hearing about this in case my copy of SimCity starts doing the same. The white streets aren't much of a problem, but they could be indicative of possible future issues.

Also, judging from past threads where people have said they've tried to contact Aspyr, you might not get a response. Sometimes you have to call to get the desired result.

    Aspyr Media Support Response

At times, updating the operating system can cause games to become glitchy. I recommend the following troubleshooting steps. Try running the Repair Disk Permissions function of the Disk Utility located in Applications/Utilities. Also, avoid installing the game to Applications or the Desktop; there are permissions conflicts that can arise when games are installed here. Games work best when they are installed in the Users/Shared folder or in a separate games folder on the top/root level of your hard drive.

If the game is not currently stored in one of the two aforementioned locations then sometimes just moving the game is not enough and it is necessary to reinstall. Reinstalling also gets rid of any game data that may have become corrupt. Be sure to trash the game's preferences files located in Home/Library/Preferences and Home/Documents when you do so. Then just trash the current copy of the game and install a new copy. Then run the 1.0.2 patch again.

    Thanks for choosing SimCity

Well, it happened. I knew it would. Fatal error. I just spent two hours reinstalling the game. 26.gif

I discovered that after upgrading to 10.4, SimCiy would fail while trying to obliterate a saved city.

Also, the file, graphics rules.sgr, was still needed with 10.4.

I have found that just trashing the preference file for Simcity and restarting the mac was enough to sort out the glitches......so maybe a whole re-installation is not necessary....sorry if i'm teaching people how to suck eggs!

    Peace out!35.gif

I can't play SimCity4 for longer than 5 minutes and my whole system freezes. ARGH!!! I have a G5 Tiger OS. The game is brand new as well.

    Hey there,
I experienced problems on my G5 DP 2.0 GHz with 2.5GB RAM and Tiger 10.4.2 aswell. I run SC4 + RH with all available patches and I also get the white one way roads in the higher zoom levels (they are normal from level 3). I did all the permission checks, resetting PRAM, resetting PMU and did a virus check (well that's not necessary on a Mac, but I did it aswell). But the issues started early on OS 10.3.9 and got worst: My systems freezes all the time I started SC4. Sometimes after a few minutes of playing, sometimes after an hour, sometimes also in the Aspyr animation shortly after starting. I also get alot of freezes in other programs so I thought it was noch SC4, but I deinstalled it completly with all preferences and so on. Once again I ran the Tiger update, check permission etc. etc. and meanwhile also the system and SC4 seems to run properly. I just got one freeze while playing, shortly after saving the city - so it was no big trouble. I get used to save my city every 5-10 minutes, so I wouldn't loose all my developments...

But the white one way roads are still present - so if anyone has suggestions, feel free to post them!
