No this is not a toppic about what is better.

I have a simple question.

Is it easier to track and manage your plugins on a pc than on a mac.

I'm playing on a mac right now and i must say it's a nightmare to manage my textures, bats and lots (missing dependancies).

if it's much easier i might consider buying a pc just for this great game.

thx

I don't think it is really. If you have an intel mac just install boot camp and xp.

If your a Gamer then buy a PC but if your into Tunes,Spreadsheets and other stuff then buy a MAC.

The Game industry is catered to the PC and Consoles but slowly the Consoles are taking over.

i think both are evil Mac and Windows are both owned by the same guy Bill Gates

Windows gets viruses and Macs can't do much

Linux is the coolest and most functional since it has very few viruses and doesn't gobble up all you computers spec so i condemn them both

also Linux ubuntu feisty fawn can play compiz fusion which is cooler than any other system thingy in the world

also you can get WINE windows emulator and cadega/winex to play windows based games and such without a dual boot

the question is not which is better. there are a lot of forums discussing this.

the question is: is it much easier to manage your plugins on a pc than on a mac.

I guess a PC has a much easier accesibility compared to the Mac and also its much easier to move files around as well. But that is my expereince with both PC and Mac, Others will have a say in this i'm sure but this is my opinion.

And i need to find out when did Bill Gates ever held claim of ownership towards Mac.......

This is simply a question of knowing how to use your file system.  Unless the Mac version is substantially different, the program reads in everything in the plugins structure including stuff in subdirectories.

This means that if you had organized stuff properly in the first place into subdirectories by some distinguishing fact (I use author or group), you wouldn't have any problems at all.  However, if you have placed all your plugins in one directory and want to take the time to trace them a little, you can easily break up that monolithic monster into its component parts, and control it, piece by piece.  Good luck.

    thx N_O_Body,

yes i have them organized by author or group and have the textures, props and lots in seperate folders. I read a thread about organizing before i started downloading custum content, thank god i did or else it would be total chaos.

so it just takes alot of time.

    well back to my city!

    thx

From what I know about windows, the organization process isn't really different in any significant way.  I have both a Windows machine and a Mac and my task really isn't that different for organization of SC4 stuff.   It's just important that you stay on top of things, making sure that your subfolders and whatnot are organized to your liking. Everyone is different and everyone has their own preferred systems. I don't organize much and I really don't organize my dependencies at all, since I never throw them away. I just toss them all into my dependencies folder and they do the job. 4.gif It's reached the point now where I rarely download dependencies anymore since I've already downloaded most of them already...
