Its about time the community had a game of Mornington Crescent (look it up on wikipedia, stoopid) going, don't you think?

Before Participating, please read up on the rules. "NF Stovold’s Mornington Crescent: Rules and Origins" is a good place to start, however i believe it is currently out of print. An alternative is "The Little Book of Mornington Crescent by Tim, Graeme, Barry and Humph" Check your local bookshop 2.gif.

I am informed that not everyone here lives in London (I know, it shocked me too) so this may be of use to some [link]

Once again, if you do not know the rules, don't post! it could ruin the game, for fans such as me.

For the first game, to get people involved, mainline stations are wild.

So, to begin, nice easy start:

Notting Hill Gate.

    ooooh! smart move there John!

I could take the obvious route to Hammersmith, but that would leave the Finchley Road open to the player after next,

therefore i will go Kew Gardens.

Well, I'm not British, but I saw this and i went to the bookstore and got "The Little Book of Mornington Cresent by Tim, Graeme, Barry and Humph" as well as a summer reading book I lost (silly me). Turns out that first book is no longer in print. oh well...

Im still trying to figure this out but would a move to Stratford be valid or am I still really confused?

Gosh your so much better than me.

I wouldve picked Westminster again but that line of play wouldve been a line of play repeat and wouldnt make it interesting.

    Baker Street

Duke87: Last time i checked that wasn't a valid move after Heathrow, is it me that has an outdated version of the rules?

I'll go from Heathrow, because otherwise i would bypass North Acton, which kinda ruins the game.

    Warren Street! Bwhahaha!

I think it has something to do with hopping from station to station in London. It would be a lot clearer if the first post included the rules and such. 34.gif

The rules will become clear over time, it kinda ruins the magic if i explain it. So if you don't get it, don't ruin it for us that do by posting please.

If, as a moderator, you want it explaining PM me and i will explain.

If I dare to obliterate this thread, I would say Mornington Crescent, but that's not a valid move for 150 turns, so I am forced to say Wimbledon.

    A) There was sarcasm there, in case you couldn't tell.

    B)

    Wikipedia

This perpetuates the main joke behind Mornington Crescent: that there are actually no rules nor 'game' at allquote>

So unless Wikipedia is wrong, there's no such thing as an "invalid move" as this is all just some sort of crazy joke.

    So what's really the point?

Baker Street is fine as long as it's Baker Street southbound platforms and not taking into account ticket reversal.

From Baker Street Im going to use a vertical line-jump to Hyde Park Corner.

I will assume we are playing the Victorian House Rules and not North Circular?

And from there I'll go to Perivale...

And yes we are playing by the Victorian House Rules.

And I forgot to mention... I finished that book a while back. Quite a good read...
