Now, I am new to this site, but I have downloaded a few landmarks, and some appear in brown boxes, some appear as just the base of the building, and NONE of them ligh up at night.

I have read the threads abouth the boxes and the night lights, BUT when I try to update SC4, it says I need the 1st update WHICH I CAN'T FIND.

As you can see, my regular Landmarks light up, but my downloaded ones, do not.

I have a Gateway CPU 1024 mb duel channel memory, 250 GB hardrive SATA II, and I'm running Windows Vista. Can some one help?

The update you are missing for the nightlights is probably the SKU update (number will depend on your region), which can be found here.

Just out of curiosity, you do have the Rush Hour expansion pack for Sim City 4?

If you have Rush Hour/Deluxe version, what is the version of the Simcity 4.exe?

Several things to note:

1. You must have installed update 1 from the SimCity site.

2. For night lights you need the update fix which is on this site.
3. You probably also need the two building props files which are on this site.

Try copying your plugins folder so some place out of the game, create a new (empty) folder and see how your game runs.  If it still fails, you should delete the game and reinstall it.  In this test, do not worry about brown boxes.

 Next, if that is now working, start putting your plugins back one at a time starting with the building props files.  Test the game after each add.  If the problem suddenly appears, then you know which download is bad.

Don't forget that after you install the updates your graphics controls will be set to defaults (low) and you'll have to fix them.

I updated my game and the lights STILL don't work

Man I feel your pain and I had the same problem getting this game to update thanx to Vista.

   Now on the main site in the upper corner it reads "Go get It" or something like that.After downloading did it still comeback your out of date?.

Find your executable (Program Files\Maxis\Apps\Simcity 4.exe) right click on it, and read the version number.  If it does not have a 640 in it, you have not updated to the night light patch.  If you have, are you sure the buildings have night lighting?

Do you mean file version?

I updated it but it says 1.1.610.0

When you sucessfully install the SKU 1 patch the version will be 1.1.638.0, when the SC4update4BAT.exe is correctly install the version will be, 1.1.640.0.

And if you are using some kind of No-CD fix, the updates will only seem to work.  Get rid of the fix, reinstall the game, do the updates, then make yourself a virtual CD for the play disk.  Works fine and gives you a back up.  Copy must be a full geometry copy.

error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was

found. No update done since file contents do not match.

I have the same issue, the worst thing is that I am sure I fixed it once (long time ago though!). I ran the update for my SimCity Deluxe from the SImCity website and it got me to this version: 1.1.638.0. Some people are mentioning a second update "SC4update4BAT.exe" that will take me up to 1.1.640.0.

@N_O_Body: Can you elaborate on this? I have SC deluxe edition but after updating it with SKU 1 and after with SC4update4BAT.exe the version is still 1.1.638.0. What do you mean by "a virtual CD for the play disk" ? to make an iso image of...what?

In my case I can't see the night lights of the bank of simcity plaza made by joerg
