Is there any way to increase the number of population in one city, like mod or cheat, I like causing traffic jams? Like lace w:st="on">Dubai3.giflace> 29.gif

Since you cannot plop residential buildings, you're not able to increase the population just like that. You need more jobs in the region to attract more inhabitants...

The Colossus Addon Mod would help you with creating more densly populated cities though.

No.  Jobs, jobs, jobs.  You need lots of industrial and commercial areas.  They can be in other cities that are adjacent and connected by transportation system.

i got 1.3 million so far.

otherwise, i'm not sure if there is a mod that will do that, unless you want to download the industry quadrupler and zone a lot of industry to make your residential demand skyrocket. but i think it's just playing the game and satisfying your sims.

I was able to get about 800,000, using a grid system. But when I downloaded the Cobb Central Park West building, it declined nearly 100,000.

Unless that's your goal, population is not a "score" in this game.  The game is so open ended that you can choose any goal.  Mine is always a profitable, happy city or region.

I got 650,000+ Sims in a city on a large tile that was 2/3 water (it had a big lake connecting two other cities to it).  On that basis, I extrapolate at least 2,000,000 Sims or more if played for enough real time.  This one took me three years of playing on and off, with other cities as well.  It was my first region, and played with Vanilla and no plugins.

My biggest and most successful city is Longridge, 1.1 million people.

If you pack 'em in like sardines, you could get more than 2 million with just maxis buildings, and even more with BATted towers. I was up to 1.7 mill. or so in a big city, and the grid system filled about 3/4 of the land (there was a river and also undevelopped land). However, once I got into such huge numbers (the region was many millions), the lag was killing me -- and I have a computer tailored specifically for games like SC4 and Oblivion.

That said, my most satisfying city was def. not that one. It was cramped, dirty, and uniformly huge. I now prefer to go for quality and realism (like a towering commercial downtown and smaller surroundings) rather than sheer numbers.

If you have a bedroom community you could technically get 1 million or so people, but that's providing if you don't have much if any jobs in the city and you're neighboring cities are loaded with jobs.

But if you want a versatile city, get the CAM.
