game is SLOW

So I've just noticed that when I'm on cheetah speed, it runs like the slowest speed (Turtle?). It takes about a minute for a day. Usually days just fly by in cheetah, but now its super slow. I think for the 3 hours I've played it over 2 days, only 2 sim years have gone by. And construction is slow as well. it's strange. I have some modds and stuff from STEX that I've gotten, but I'm not sure if those are to blame. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

I know there is a time mod, that slows the passing of the days, but I don't think it does anything else. The city grows just the same, except the it takes more time for a day to pass.

maybe the computer is slow too? how fast is the processor? and how big is the RAM?

i think i remember the simulation stopping every now and then on my AthlonXP 2600+
