Maxing Education (Libraries?)

I am having trouble getting education maxed out. There seems to be a barrier at about 100 or so, even though I have schools, libraries, etc. and a very high EQ.

Does plastering the city with libraries & museums boost education to the max?

Or, is it the landmarks or rewards that max education?

Thanks for any input.

Mike

I am not sure that Education can be Maxed.  However, libraries, museums, schools, colleges, and the University will add to it.  There are also some educational BAT's around.  I think the Seminary of Mota is a good education adder.

Libraries/museums don't increase it, they keep edu level from dropping off as fast, as your sims age and/or become senile. There's no way to completely prevent that. Also, excess libraries & museums cost money but won't help you (no point having 8 libraries for 500 people).

If all your housing is covered by fully-funded schools & colleges (not overcrowded) and adequate libs/museums, the EQ should slowly (over a few generations) climb as high as it can get. Which is as high as it will ever need to be, to attract high-tech etc.

Note for you hitomichan1, in very new neighbourhoods that you just zoned, You EQ will be low at first, no matter how many librarys and schools they are. It takes time and exposure to the education buildings.

In my older cities, I build a new neighborhood and the EQ shoots up over a hundred right away. The city's average EQ is 200 in all age groups. You need to have a comprehensive school system (that means you MUST have a college or university), local libraries, and several museums. Build all the educational rewards, and keep the system well funded.

Thanks for the input everyone. My understanding now is that a gradually declining education level is natural with an aging population.

My EQ is usually excellent as I build using the "small circle" theory of cities (I just coined that term). I got this from a thread somwhere (sorry I can't give credit where it is due). Before I build a community, I always plop the elementary school first and max the bus funding, which gives me my community range. I leave space open around the school to add hospital, high school library, etc. I build residential that fills in the radius of the school. Once that is going well, I build a similar community, ensuring that the radii do not overlap. This gives me great EQ (demand, mayor rating, etc). Thus, as the radius of a school is a circle, I have a cirlce shaped residential community.

    Cheers,

    Mike

If you have the Oprea House in the city, you might try the "Opera House Fix", found in the Modding page. But be sure to read the readme, and follow the steps carfully, or you can mess up the city.
