Neat Things fr "Somewhere Else"

This past month I found myself much more daytime tv than I've done in a loooong time (eh, long story).  Anyway, I  found myself hooked on a cop show on WGN Chicago I had never heard of before called Da Vinci's Inquest.   Turns out it was a long running series from Vancouver.  Okay it's just another crime drama, a little chatty for its genre, but I ended up liking it.  Thanks Canada!

There were some other neat things that grew on me that came from somewhere.  I love jerk and curried chicken b/c of a young lady that I dated fr Jamaica a long time ago.   I also like '70's  British hard rock groups The Who, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones that I grew up with.   I also have thing for Japanese bonsais and often make trips to see among the best of them at the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C.

So, what are the neat things that you like that came from somewhere else?

Let no one yield, we're on the field where deeds eclipse the sun; where the brave are told on a thread of gold, the tapestry is spun. As they speak of dreams, their armor gleams, this calm before the storm... Where all can see their destiny, the bishop takes the pawn.

Does food count?   I have to stick to a gluten-free diet.  Gluten is a protein in wheat, which is a staple of the American diet.  So I wind up eating a lot of Mexican, Chinese, and Thai food.

I've seen Da Vinci's Inquest, Joe.  I decided that I needed to get out more when I realized that, upon seeing my first episode, I knew that was filmed in Vancouver because I recognized the cast.  I've seen so many episodes of Stargate SG-1, The Dead Zone, and The X-Files that I can recognize most of the Vancouver population of actors.

That might make me a geek (but we all know that about me anyway 18.gif 2.gif so I'll just join Joe in saying: Thank you, Canada.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

Most food from any country goes through me! 9.gif I thank China for silk, Italy for neckties, Switzerland for cuff links, and Florida for alligator skin brief cases.

No one's mentioned that this website is from Canada!?! 6.gif Thank you, dirk!...and Canada too. 3.gif

In the vein of food, I don't remember what it is, but Nicaragua has a type of food that is sort of like a cross between a burrito and an egg role.  As crazy as that may sound, it's really very good.  (According to what I was told, it also takes a month to prepare it properly too. 2.gif)  So, thank you Nicaragua.
