Hello all. I'm trying to absorb all of the modification information on this wonderful site. I have 3 questions:

1) Are there any BAT packs that are all comprehensive that are free to download? (I'm going to try these out before I go purchase the CD that is offered)

2) What does ST mean?

3) I'm looking for 3rd-party-made buildings that once I put them into the plugin folder and play my game, they grow by themselves naturally (due to the desire of my sim city). How do I distinguish this from the plop files (i'll still use plop as well, though).

Thanks a lot!

3) ploppable buildings appear in the menues for you put down, hence the 'ploppable'. If you mean in the file name, generally BATs names have plop or grow in the file name, to help the creator and user distinguish.

Welcome to ST....... (SimTropolis), which should answer your question #2 at the same time....lol

There aren't really any BATpacks to download for free, but you can download all of them individually though from the STEX (Simtropolis Exchange). But if you should buy the ST CD BATpacks you will get all the better BATs without loosing dozens of hours to search for the Best on the STEX while helping out our site to give you and us better services. The buyable BATpacks are there to finance this site, keep it healthy and to enjoy for everyone, including yourself.

Growable BATs are usually indicated as such when downloaded, whether they bear the name *Grow* or something like *R$$* in their filename.

Now enjoy your stay and have some fun.......

To question 3,

Like mrbisonm said, growables have "Grow" or "CO$$" or something of that nature as a file prefix. Landmarks usually have "LM" in the filename, while functional ploppables usually start with "PL". Those are just the SC4LOT files; there are also SC4MODEL files and SC4DESK files. You can leave out the PL/ LM SC4LOTs if you don't want those versions of the BAT, but you have to include all the SC4MODEL and SC4DESK ones.

Ok sorry but what If I want a building to grow naturally but also have the option to plop? Is there anything I should do or just plugin the damn thing. And once I plug it in, will the building just grow by itself with normal zoning and demand parameters? Also, where do I find ploppables to plop?

    Thanks again!

Ploppable RCI buildings often do not function correctly in the game.  There is a problem with the path finding mechanism for routing Sims to work and back.

Stick with growables as much as possible.

You would do well to shift over to Bugs and Technical Difficulties and read the Plugin Mania thread before you start downloading stuff.  Good tips and cautions there.

Hmmm, maybe Maxis made this bug on purpose... perhaps in the event that someone would want to take away the concept of RCI zoning altogether... now who on earth would want to do that? 3.gif

Well, I suppose he could get a copy of (gasp!) city life if he wants to plop everything.  Or he could wait for Christmas and hope for a copy of SC:S.  Boring, and not what this game is designed to do.
