HELP! Display Problem - SIMCITY 4 is too small on screen

I have an Acer notebook computer with a 15.4 inch widescreen.  Since I've had it, Simcity has displayed to the full 4:3 ratio with no room left at the top and bottom and with black bars on the left and right to maintain the correct proportion.  I have no idea why but for some reason now, Simcity 4 shows up much smaller with about .5 inches of space on the top and bottom and appears "squished" from the left and right.  I honestly have no idea how I did this or how to fix it.  I really can't play the game in the smaller window, my laptop screen is small enough as it is.  Note: I have not changed any settings in the game to cause this.

I had the same problem when my moniter crashed and I got another... wider one.

It was a long time ago but I fiddled with the settings in one of the things from the simcity options panel. I think it was the graphics button.

What I did is downsize the screen resolution (you can probably get same results by upsizing it) then when it says restart the game do it. Now it'll be smaller. However now go back into options and click back to the screen resolution you were recently using. Restart the game and it 'should' work. I think simcity just needs to restart completely to acknowledge the size of your moniter...

Edit the command line as follows:

Edit to the correct path, and resolution.

"C:\Program Files\Games\simcity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1440x900x32 -f -intro: off 

[no space after the colon, that's there to keep the smilie away]

Adding your resolution as needed, and be sure to turn the intro off.
