I'm a mathematical economics/political economy major whos also in NROTC. Here are 3 of my top options for an 11:00-12:15 TR class. In no order:

1) The same naval science class everyone else is taking

2) Asia-Pacific Economic Development

3) Political Economy: A Historical Overview

If i were you i'd go with the economic developement class. No one gets rich in the navy?... Unless your name is Francis Drake. Make academic selections.

Its a required class, I'm getting paid to go to school, and in exchange the Navy gets part of my life. Sub officers also have an 80k+ starting salary 3.gif. And if i wanted to get rich I'd be a business major.

The navy does other things besides sail submarines.  Take the poli-sci course, and if you need the naval training as well, take it as an extra or after hours course.

One bit of advice I would give is get to know your advisor very well.  I know they aren't all like this, but my engineering advisor loves to hear from students and will practically bend over backwards to make sure that you're not having problems with your courses.

I'm required to take 7 naval science classes over the course of my 4 years to maintin my scholarship and receive my commission as (I hope) a submarine officer.

On advisors... My advisor straight up told me the first time I met him "there's not much I can do for you." He left after the school year to coach football at Holy Cross.

Wonderful.  I hope you are on good terms with your new adviser.  Know any middling to senior naval officers?  Commanders, Captains, other Master level officers?  These guys can clue you in if they will.

Was hosted in DC by a Navy Reserve Captain. That was fantastic. He lived in the same building as Mrs. Zumwalt.
