HSR and 1 way streets in NAM?

The new NAM is good but it doesn't have 1 way streets. The road I lvie on is a cul-de-sac and it joins on to a 1 way street. So I thought for even more realisum some one could make 1 way streets for SC4. Also while looking at some file I noticed some one made a HSR (High Speed Rail) mod for SC4. And i thought they could put HSR in NAM. The HSR mod (unfortunatly) replaces Monorail and when dragging HSR sometimes it show up right  espeacialy when dragging it to make corners. Also you can't rename HSR transit hub thing. You can't do any U-drive it missions ethier as the HSR train CAN'T go around corners properly. Nice idead though maybe the NAM team could make it better with the next version of NAM...they could also add MAGLEV trains

Doesn't the base game (with Rush Hour) have one way streets?

no sc4 deluxe/ rush hour has one way roads. I like the idea though but adding other transit networks is a very hard thing to do (i think).

Yeah... SC4 Rush Hour and Deluxe Edition come with one way streets. You don't even need the NAM to get them (although it does have some stuff for them as well....) There are other added features like a second form of highways which are at ground level and cheaper, rather than elevated.

writingliberty it goes about one way STREET, nog one way ROADS

No there are not in the game, meaby with the ANT tool, but you need good modding skills to make from that a one way street.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to rural, low-capacity, low-speed streets. The one-way roads in SC4RH/D are clearly intended for high-density downtowns. They have the same speed stats as roads, with the same capacity, just all in one direction instead of bi-directional. True one-way low-speed, low-capacity rural (suburban, more commonly) streets would be nice, but ....

Alas, I'm almost certain adding new network types e.g. one-way streets, HSR as an addition (as opposed to sacrificing monorail for it), etc... is actually near-impossible from what I've read. They're not modules, they're hardcoded into the main game engine. Even the rural highway add-on is merely taking advantage of an "unfinished" network that was already burned into the main exe. The NAM team simply finished it (and did a fine job at that). Not sure how GLR works, if that was also an "unfinished" network or if they simply extended the existing el-rail/subway networks. Bottom-line though, we won't see any true "new" networks without sacrificing an existing one, not unless/until EA/Maxis opens lets the modders hack into and add onto the exe. Until then, all that can be done is to override what already exists with something else, hence *why* HSR has to "replace" something - monorail was the chosen victim (to the delight of some, and the dismay of others, including myself... but it was admittedly probably the best choice overall).

They managed to make GLR so why havn't they made HSR or MAGLEV yet? We could just wait and see if there in SC5... oh and by the way the 1 way street I live on is in the center of town, it comes off a main road although, I dunno why I brought up the idea of 1 way streets as I hardly ever use streets in SC4 I just thought it would be a nice idea to have them.

there is a HSRP with a maglev u can download here on the STEX, i have had it myself actually, only problem with the HSRP is u cannot connect it to any other network of transport, so alot of ppl did away with it.

EDIT: the HSRP was a beta when i used it last, i'll see if i can't dig it up for u here on the STEX. i don't think it ever left beta stage either to tell ya the truth, but the beta was very good, and very fast

EDIT #2: here ya go the infamous HSRP: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=16426

if u wanna, just type in HSRP in the STEX search box and u come up with a few train skins it looks like as well

GLR wasn't a new network. It's actually just an extension of el-rail. Well, maybe "just" is not appropriate, it was no small extension, so many textures and pieces, and the new draggable GLR and avenue pieces... mind-boggling work, I'm sure. 46.gif But nonetheless, it's extending an already existing network, not adding a completely new one.

The HSR is closer to a "new network" than GLR, but even so, not really. It's a replacement for monorail. There just wasn't a network to extend that made sense. Monorail to dual-rail tracks... uh, no. And extending regular passenger rail would mean regular passenger rail becomes high-speed, too. It was well-done, but you have to choose for yourself, HSR or monorail? Can't have both.

In short, the only options for a "new network" are to extend or replace an existing one. Without hacking the exe, adding one is impossible, unfortunately.
