Hi guys, my name is Lalginho and I am here to bring new variety to the simtropolis CJs.

I was browsing this site and realized that no-one uses my particular style for zoning, so i thought i would make a new region, call it Andeluches and start terraforming

Thanks to the team behind SC4_Terraformer as without them, the terraforming would not have been possible.

I like to use all small city tiles, as it means i can control which type of wealth grows where more acurately, and it means my funds don't run out so quick 3.gif

I would also like to give a special mention to the team behind the Network Add-on MOD, which has been a revelation for me to use.

I think that is the only MOD i use, however i do use a few ploppables found here on the ST-Exchange when playing

ANDELUCHES

I am a poor terraformer, but i thought i would give it a shot anyway.

The region did'nt quite fit on my screenshot, so i merged 2 screens together which is why it appears a bit small:

0001.jpg

As you can see, i had to fill  in the top and bottom corner with my custom purple colour 3.gif

I thought i would post a quick game for people to have a quick go at while I work at some rural villages in the East.

FIND THE CITY TILE!!!

You can see how big the small tiles are by looking at the first screenshot.

Feel free to give general locations as to where you think it is, i will post the answer on my first update

That looks like an awesome terrain to build on! I'd suggest getting a custom terrain texture, and possibly a Peg water mod. Those are realistic. I look forward to your cities, especially with all the possibilities open to you from the STEX! TopCliff

well, i WAS going to hold off on the first update until someone located my city-game, and i didn't expect someone to post it in less than an hour 9.gif

i was also going to wait until jacqulina posted a reply as that always seems the best time to post a first UD

topcliff: thanks for the compliment, and congrats on first reply!! feel free to pm me with any sugestions to improve the realistic-ness (is that a word?!) of my region

simfan34: congrats on finding my city tile, i knew i should have posted a more difficult one, maybe i will in the future 4.gif

jacqulina: your support for new CJers is fantastic, thanks for commenting and please stick around and watch how it evolves

and most of all, thankyou for the lack of negative comments of my lack-luster terraforming skillz

I have decided to start on the fertile islands to the East of my region. the fertile soils of frequent floods make the soil excellent for farming, but difficult for permanent and developed buildings to last long-term

    Fillu-gachi ($)

a small rural island with only farmers and their families living on it. just 1 small hamlet in this city

    0005.jpg

Here is a close-up of the hamlet:

    0006.jpg

And a close-up of the owner of Fillu-gachi island, and his farm:

    0004.jpg

Senlagachi ($) (Sorry for the poor names of cities 3.gif)

another small low-wealth island with only farmers and their families:

    0007.jpg

A close-up of the central village

    0008.jpg

    and finally

    Orkula-kula

The coastal village of orkula-kula is what i named the city after, although the island of Fillu also spreads here. Another low wealth city, with some medium wealth policemen, firmen and railway workers:

    0009.jpg

    A close-up of orkula-kula:

    0010.jpg

And i will post a picture of my current region status at the end of the majority of my updates, so newcomers can see if they like my progress or not by hitting the "Go To Last Unread" link:

    0011.jpg

Please give me advice on rural villages as I have never lived rurally and have no idea if my villages are realistic, or just silly 15.gif

i will use the STEX, however i don't think a huge Tesco's will look good in a rural village 3.gif

like i said earlier, these villages are frequently flooded and as a result, no large buildings can be constructed.

i have used the STEX on some of my farms, but agreed, more variety is needed, and i am working on bringing that as we speak

jacqulina: Thanks again for the support

my last update before bed will be part of the outskirts of a major town i will start on tomorrow.

    Grofinha ($$)

A semi-rural area with mainly medium wealth residents working in the nearby power plants and manufacturing parks:

    0012.jpg

This image zooms in on the power plant, and railway lines:

    0013.jpg

Heres a first glimpse at some town-work by me, as I say, mostly medium wealth. This shot shows the village high-school and its soccer fields:

    0014.jpg

Finally, a view of the train station, tennis courts and some nearby housing:

    0015.jpg

    And the region shot:

    0016.jpg

    G'night all!

    Enjoy

You are off to a nice start - that's some cool terrain you have.

You can find plenty of rural stuff on the STEX. It may take a while, but it's there!

When you are posting pictures of several cities at once I think that leaving the small menu with the city name is just fine, and I think it works well - however other readers may not agree.

Two small suggestions - turn the U-Drive it off - in the sims button below the mayor mode button and turn of the grid lines [just press "G"] ... I usually forget to turn them off....

Other than that I think you are doing just fine - crack on.

Schulminator: Thanks for stopping by, and I have looked at the stuff on the STEX, and i have downloaded some. I will use them in my next rural village.

abcvs: I meant to leave the city name there, however i do mean to turn the grid off, and I think that i managed to remember to do it on 3 or 4 of my screenshots 4.gif

GingerBlokey: Thanks for your comments, and i have made a lot of the region on rolling hills, so although it looks like the whole thing could be urban, only a few villages surrounded by farms will be dotted around.

    Grantanya ($)

This is where the town of Gloriosus really gets started, with some late victorian terraces making their way into the south of the city. Urban sprawl can be seen beyond the Tesco:

    0001-1.jpg

Here is a close-up of the Tesco and a small dirty-industry park:

    0002-1.jpg

Some nice housing for low-wealth sims (in the future, medium wealth people will be living here):

    0018.jpg

And heres a close-up of the terraced housing to the south (took a long time to wait for those to grow):

    0019.jpg

    And the region shot:

    0020.jpg

Population rockets to 16,000 with those terraces 4.gif

Like the ruralness of the early updates but the apartments look terribly ugly and if there was proper terracing it may look better

penguin007: thanks for the compliements about the farming, but real-life terrace areas arn't nice to look at 4.gif. i was going for realism rather than eye-candy.

jacqulina: 3 comments already, that's so cool, thanks again

IDS2: i'm working on an update 2 ahead from now, and that has a lot of rural STEX in it, so stay tuned! 4.gif

manman99: thanks for stopping by and thanks for the kind words.

So, with my first negative comment, on with the UD.

    Gloriosus ($$)

This region has the rest of the pre-war terracing as well as the town's office buildings:

    0022.jpg

Here's a close-up of the (for now) small CBD:

    0023.jpg

as the region grows, I expect this too will grow and engulf the whole of that side of the river for this city area.

Here is the infamous terraced housing 9.gif

    0024.jpg

And finally the region shot at this stage:

    0021.jpg

I might as well post the next update too as I have completed it, and that one was a bit small

    Forfaron ($)

The low-wealth east of the city, with lots of spaces implying the region may eventually become $$ in the future. I have downloaded the Complete Rural Set by gshmails, and integrated some of those civic buildings into this region (https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=2132)

    0025.jpg

This next screenshot zooms in on the rural high school and it's soccer fields (I'm a big soccer fan!):

    0026.jpg

This one shows the rural shops and some other civic services:

    0027.jpg

This final zoom-in shows a shopping street, and the re-emergence of farms in the distance:

    0028.jpg

    And the current region shot:

Sorry I wasn't trying to sound negative but only trying to be constructive but proper terracing dosn't look like that. If you want to you can say things like this on my cj I wont mind

The growth of Gloriosus is running out of space, soon they will have to expand across the river.

But for now they have enough room

    Duvandral ($$)

Another medium wealth city located at the out skirts of Gloriosus

    0035.jpg

    Here's a close-up of the manufacturing park:

    0036.jpg

And a close-up of the rich mayor's  house, lake and tennis courts which hold monthly tournaments:

    0037.jpg

    Overton ($)

Here is another farming village to the North of Gloriosus:

    0031.jpg

Competition over farmland is getting hot as multiple owners fight over 1 space:

    0032.jpg

A very usual town with not much going on:

    0033.jpg

    And the region shot:

Nothing wrong with Maxis stuff mate - if it was not for Maxis then none of us would be here...

Your rural villages are well thought out - I like the idea of the village in the middle surrounded by farms... I usually start building in a corner ... something to think about....

I am not an expert on terraced housing coming from a country that likes to spread its housing out... but I reckon they are not the prettiest things to look at ...

Actually they reminded me of Little Whining.... roll on 21st June...

abcvs: I do like playing with the majority of Maxis stuff in my cities as it shows I'm not just plopping buildings everywhere and never hitting play. It shows that I am playing the game the way the designers meant it. Also, its nice to see you taking something from my CJ, and it was the cities location within the region that was important, not on the city tile

Schulminator: Thanks again, i plan for the village to keep growing across the river eventually, and i will have the major downtown where the river dips North.

jacqulina: thanks for the continued support of my CJ.

penguin007: Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for making it clear you are a fan of *some* of my work.

And now on with the update

    Gondanforth ($)

The fairly poor east of the city continues here. The city beach is also located here:

    0038.jpg

Here is a close-up of the beach:

    0039.jpg

Thats all from that city as the housing areas are similar to what I have done before.

    Grainger ($)

This pretty much completes the northern bank of the river, another low wealth suburb of the rural town of Gloriosus:

    0040.jpg

Here is a close-up of the industrial park to the north:

    0041.jpg

And the region at it's current stage:

Beach is nice - reckon you will get a few sims wanting to move in there.

You are right about playing in vanillia - at least you can say 'I acheived this' and know that it was not with a whole of of mods and stuff that did it all for you.... having said that I use some mods but I don't go overboard with them.
