The thing is, it's called holiday theming. Walk around your town around Christmas time and you'll see stuff like that; it's realistic. In SCS the gingerbread houses have nothing to do with Christmas and the Candycane lights are a year-round thing.

that's the problem, in the older Sim city games, things like these were just holiday season novelties.

I remember, in Sim City, they use to have parades. I wish they had that in SC4, but I can almost guarantee that they won't in SCS

But they do have the next best thing - roaming cheerleaders! 44.gif Very realistic, no? Haven't we all been walking down the street depressed at some point, and some random cheerleader just spontaneously runs up - in full costume - to make us happy? For free?

This proves a point, actually. It's not that we're against more fantasy-oriented things in SimCity... we just don't want less realism and micromanagement we love.

That brings back memories... still looks pretty good to this day... although a little too pastel for me nowadays.

that brought about the Gingerbread Incident, a terrible ethnic cleansing civil war.

There is also pie-flinging as a crime in SC4 and I believe around Halloween you see ghosts and other things near the cemetaries and the pumpkinhead guy in SC3, I guess that's supposed to make Clown Schools and Zombies garbage in SC:S acceptable? No, those things are little graphical trinkets, they're not actual mechanical effects to gameplay that remain constantly.

Not  nessecarily, but it is highlighted to indicate the gingerbread houses will be destroyed very soon 17.gif
