Well, Las Vegas is in the middle of a desert.  I don't know where the nearest usable farm land is but it sure isn't anywhere close.  Seems like a logical place to try this.

Well, Las Vegas is in the middle of a desert. I don't know where the nearest usable farm land is but it sure isn't anywhere close. Seems like a logical place to tryquote>

there are irrigated farms all over the desert. Not to mention the imperial valley is not very far either. Just the proximity to California and Mexico means Las Vegas is really close to most of the major produce growing areas in the US.

I think the real purpose of putting in in Las Vegas is the tourism factor.

Anyways, they already have large scale hydroponics farms that are under greenhouses, this doesnt seem so different just stacked vertically. Now I don't know if you could ever grow enough corn or wheat in one of these but I bet for small produce items like say lettuce this could be a great solution especially since it could operate year around.
