Sosa is one of the guys whose name has been mentioned in steroids implications - and I have been a little skeptical of it.

It seems to me Sosa has always been kind of big - but not in a McGwire-esque way. And, if I recall right, he has always been pretty big. And, he has always been a slugger.

Congratulations, Sammy - I am sure getting it off the Cubbies was icing on the cake.

Count me as someone who hoped that the Sosa/McGwire homerun chase (was '99?) wasn't steriod induced.  That was the one event that brought me back into paying attention to baseball after the '94 strike cancelled the World Series (and I still haven't cared that much for MLB since!)  Otherwise if Ken Griffey Jr. wasn't going to be the one to chase Hank Aaron's career record I was hoping it would be Sammy Sosa.  Meanwhile it's great to see Jr. back in fine form again!10.gif

sosas cooler than bonds, mostly because hes not a jerk towards everyone, and doesnt threaten to kill his ex-girlfriends. Also, i dont think he uses roids, but remember the corked bat incident?

Portion of 600 home run club that's steroid-induced: 2/5.

In the first 100 years of baseball, only 3 people pass that mark. Then two people do it in the next 5 years. 34.gif

Also, the McGwire/Sosa competition was '98. The same year the Yankees won 114 games.

1999 Topps series 1 baseball cards are hard to find since they way underestimated the demand for them. It was what brought baseball back up after the strike..... and then the steroids scandal knocked it back down. Hard to say what might bring it up next....

Look at pictures of Sosa about 15 years ago, look at him back in the late 90's early 00's and look at his body now. There is no doubt in my mind he used steroids, which, like Bond's, is unfortunate because he was a great player before he used.

Another stat on Sosa, there have only 8 times has a player hit 60 hr's in a season, Sosa has the most with 3.
