I was thinking look at simcity 4, look at what the community has made, is it even possible to improve the game other than better graphics? I mean we have the power to keep adding more and more stuff for the exception of modding the games engine, if we had the power to do that then well u can just use your imagination for the possibilities. So I ask once again is it even possible to improve this game other than graphics?

Welll, Maybe, I think that most everything in the game was fine, and any minor thing I found wrong, there was a Mod for. So no, I don't think that there is too much to improve on.

I'm sorry are you trying to be funny? Because I don't thinks it's funny, and for my spelling I have only mispelled "you" which I did on purpose, if you must know it's because I want to type fast(er), and for punctuation, I don't know what school you went to.

It's an interesting point, Spoty101.  Some might argue that there can always be more and elaborate transportation networks.  It would be cool to see things like airports and seaports improve with further depth.  There could be more options for micromanagement, invoked by the player as desired, of course, as some people like micromanaging.  I guess these are all really small things that would go far to help improve upon the core game.

    Sorry.

EDIT: This thread os starting to get of topic, so let's get back to the subject....

I think they should add the ability to build on diagonals, and they need to let you build under bridges.

Probably an improvement of the transportation systems with a few more options. Ironically the addition of some things SCS have added like social energies would have been good to an extent but not as a core part of the game.

From the terra-forming aspect, I think there can be some improvements.

Of course, one of the most common pleas has been realistic weather - snowfall, fog, rain. A surface water and waterfall tool has also been in demand - imagine being able to build Niagra Falls or Angel Falls in the game.

I believe it was joerg who suggested active erosion in the game - this would be quite fascinating. Imagine watching your little stream eventually grow to a canyon the size of The Grand Canyon, or those little hills eventually grow to the size of The Alps - then erode to little hills again. Or how about watching your city go through the seasons.

Meanwhile, SimCity Societies does take a small step towards something I would find very fascinating - changing props (ie, cameras on streetlamps). In real life, a building does not remain the same for 100 years. Imagine being able to watch your little flower shop later change to a candy shop, then a hobby shop, then a fine restaurant - than a beer hall when the rest of the neighborhood degrades. The signs, window dressing and even props outside could change with time. Holiday decorations - seen in SimCity 3000 - could be seen through the year.

No, I do not think this is the end - there is still a very long way to go, and with our systems becoming more apt to handle better graphics, I have hopes the game will see those changes, as well.

I'm not too sure if any of you allready know but the SC community is developing their own game as we speak. http://www.urbsurbis.com, you can also find threads within the SIMTROPOLIS forums.

Yes, but processes like that occur over millions of years, and considering that cities didn't exist millions of years ago, and may not exist millions of years from now, this isn't realistic.

The Grand Canyon and the Alps and things of that scale did take millions of years but water can also create havoc in a human beings life time. Rivers move and alter their course and coastline gets eroded away only to be built up elsewhere. In England there are small villages that are being abandoned as they literally fall into the sea. In Russia, the Aral Sea has had so much water diverted from it that it's actually drying up and rapidly at that. The Aswan High Dam in Egypt has altered the Niles natural cycles leading to salt water leaching into the Nile downstream. I could go and on with examples but that's not the point.

Erosian can occur rapidly for natural reasons (hurricanes, fires etc) but the impact of erosian is also very much determined by human activity which could make for an intresting game dynamic. Did we drain wetlands that provide natural flood control and water treatment? Did we cut down forests on hills allowing hillside to rapidly erode and sending more silt into rivers that is eventually ends up deposited downstream or in river deltas? Did we channel water into tightly controlled and fast moving storm sewers or floodways? Did we divert water for our own use? Did we build infill or build breakwaters along shorelines? What we do can have a big and noticable impact in a short-time.
