I used to be a big SIM2000 fan but have not played it for a long time and I recently bought Sim City 4.

However having trouble getting back into it.

The graphics are better but it doesn't seem to present any very new challenges

What challenges are there in Sim4 which were not available in Sim2000

you might want to correct your error

'What challenges are there in Sim2000 which were not avialable in Sim2000

    That doesn't make any sense

'What challenges are there in SimCity 4 which were not avialable in Sim2000'

Can't help I'm afraid as I never played Simcity 2000

Hello, and welcome to our community.

Well, Simcity 2000 is three generations of game ago, so there are clearly a few things that are different.  I never played it either, but I have played SC3K and SC3KU, as well as the original SC.

The main thing that is different is that you have regional play.  You can play several cities as a group, one at a time, but their demands are reflected in each other across the connections.

The Advisors are designed to quickly drive you into bankruptcy.

There are no scenarios, and you can't download a city because of the custom content stuff.

If you want to get a real handle on SC4, start by scanning through the Omnibus.  This is one of the best, if not the best, manuals for the game.

The exchange here contains over 10,000 entries, so you have to exercise considerable restraint in choosing the kind of game you want to play.  There are several other fan sites, which also offer adjudicated exchanges like ours.

The first item you should consider as an add to Rush Hour/Deluxe is the Network Addon Mod, which is like a large road network expansion pack.  Part of it is Beta, so you will want to read its 20 page discussion document very carefully.

Get the Opera House Fix, wcich fixes a serious bug.

Beyond that, you have to decide.
