I decided to create a city that ressembles Paris but in the North American style (downtown in centre, low rise banlieue). I'll update this CJ soon and a table of contents will be kept on this page as I go.

Here are a few shots:

nice start, this is pretty interesting, it will be interesting to see what happens with this...does it have a large French population, then maybe our citizens will get along lol anyway, the neighborhood look nice ai like all the european city' style houses in the last picture...though might i suggest some of Porkissimo's buildings for a historical district, and also take the car zots off, can't wait to see what you do!!

Thanks for the replies! It's actually already reasonably big (population 1 million metro area) but not nearly finished. I still need to throw out more suburbs to make it more realistic.

though might i suggest some of Porkissimo's buildings for a historical district

Yeah the thing is it doesn't have a Paris style inner-city, it's all modern high-rises. Anyway yeah it's "enti

Profil de Quartier: Ile de la Ville

Ile de la Ville is the southern half of Marsouse's central bisinuss district and is located on the northern tip of a long Island on the Marsouse river ("la Marsouse" en français). It's banks are treed and green but the enterior of the island and the two highly built-up "rives" (banks) are crammed with office towers. The oldest part of the city, it was started in 1803 as a logging slum and by 1878 most of the old logging buildings had been removed and replaced with early commercial buildings, some of which still stand. Most office towers were built between 1940 and 1960 and the area contains the central metro hub (section on the metro to come) as well as a league one football club's grounds, Stade LeTisserand (section on the teams football clubs to come as well).

The newest part of Ile de la Ville (most buildings developed post 1980):

    Profil de Quartier: Feuilleverte

Directly to the south of Ile de la Ville Feuilleverte is mainly residential with two large shopping districts and a large volume of metro traffic. The eastern part of the Marsouse river flows directly through the quarter and like in the north it is banked by trees. Most developement is low or medium rise and average wealth and land value are high, due to a short commute to downtown and good public services and parks.

The townhouses look small, but go for huge prices owing to a good placement near downtown and on the metro.

Great downtown area, although, again you need more custom content. great job otherwise!

    Profil de Quartier: Villeplate

Originally on a floodplain at the division of La Marsouse, Villeplate is the northern half of Marsouse's downtown. Due to odd municipal politics, it technically sits on the edge of the inner city but since urban areas sprawl out north of it outside the border this is not physically visable. The area has a small areport used by rich bisinuss commuters and international politicians that is now difficult to navigate into due to highrise buildings around it. A second top-league football ground is located on the Rive Gauche, as well as la Tour Geoffroi, a modern supertall tower.

Aéroport municipal St. Brébeuf. Some of the "Ligne Centreville du Nord" tramline can be seen at the left.

Ehh, don't really like seeing houses next to skyscrapers. Your first couple of shots were pretty good, though.

Funnily enough the last one is actually a part of the city done by my brother. I don't like seeing it either (but sometimes it happens).

@All: Well I have tonnes of issues in the city, I'm far from perfect! The messed up areas don't make it into the photo shoots. 4.gif

Profil de Quartier: le CAN + le CAS

Le Centre d'Affaires du Nord is a smaller commercial bisinuss center located in the northeastern quarter of Marsouse. A similar centre exists in the southeastern quarter  (le CAS) and a specific metro line (the pink line) runs between them. They provide more local jobs to people in thier areas and are mostly surrounded by low and medium rise residential buildings of the typical modern Marsouse style. In both a government building is present to ensure quick government response en cas d'urgence.

    le CAN's two main buildings:

    quartierip8.jpg

    Profil de Quartier: Le Banlieue

The suburbs of Marsouse are build with red rooved houses, arranged in a grid system of larger streets with networks of cul-de-sacs interwoven between them. Most transportation is done by rail (with frequently is attached to the end of city metro lines). Like in the inner city, many local football clubs in lower divisions represent the local populations. Seen here is C.F. Grenouille-sur-Mer's grounds, a club in LPD Division 3. The neighbourhood is typical of the outer environs of the city.

Here's a region shot of essentially the inner-city. I'm still throwing out suburbs around it and I've blackened out a few undeveloped areas.

Thank you! It took a while to do.

    Le Foot à Marsouse

To come: Stadium and team profiles of the three main clubs. Pics to come!

Football is life in Marsouse. After the Bible and Les Trois Mousquetaires, the best-selling book in the City has always been the yearly supporters guide to the three highest divisions of LP (Ligue Professionnelle) football. The city boasts about 20 clubs at various levels, ranging from lowly non-league sides to a total of 3 top-tier clubs. To give a taste of the wide varietly of lower league football venues available in almost any quarter, here are some grounds examples. Stay tuned for the bigger ones!

Stade Geoffroi, home to the LP Division 2 club CF Geoffroi. The stadium style is typical of those found in the country Marsouse is located in and it is surrounded by plazas.

    stade1th5.jpg

Parc Saint-Paul, home of Pauloi Sport in the LM (Ligue Mineure) Division A.  It is one of the many small semi-pro clubs scattered throughout the suburbs.

Thanks for the comments everyone! They're really appreciated!

Là où il ne faut pas se promener....

There were originally two areas of Marsouse in which it was not recommended to go out alone even in broad daylight. The first no longer really exists, it was torn town and replaced by some public housing projects and a church+soup kitchen but still is a bit rough. Oddly enough it was smack-dab in the center of downtown, a simple few blocks that had turned into a shanty town and that nobody had developed (nobody had the courage to put a rich skyskraper inside a slum). Electricity and water were available, but conditions were squalid and gang crime rampant. Eventually local companies pitched in to clean the place up and build better-quality apartment buildings for the residents.

"Bidon-Ile" (a play on words on the French word for "slum") in 1964:

    slum1af7.jpg

The second no-go zone is St. Pierrbourg in the western banlieue (suburbs). Located beside an industrial park of dirty industry, it consists of several run-down brown appartment buildings. It is essentially the only dangerous area in Marsouse today. It's environs consist of more appartments and some independent homes, few without barred windows.
