What's the goal here?

So I really just don't understand what TM is trying to accomplish by removing so much of what SC4 had.  They aren't expanding on what we already have (SC4), they're taking stuff away then going to attempt to sell us something less than what we already have?  It's not going to have zones, it's not going to have utitlies, it's not going to actually simulate anything, just building which we now find out is just going to be plopping...

It makes me think of this:

Here's a car.  It's a very complicated machine.  Too complicated as a matter of fact.  We're going to take off the wheels, to make it easier for you.  And since you don't have wheels you don't need the breaks or steering wheel.  In fact you don't need the axels either.  And since you're not going anywhere you don't really need the engine either.  Also what good is a windshield?  None.

There you have it.  The essence of a car.  None of that crap that makes it difficult.

So if I bought SCS, here's what I'm paying NOT to get:
- Zones
- Utilites
- Simulation
- Realistic Transportation Networks

And since I already have these in Simcity4, what on earth makes them think I would buy it?

I just don't get it... what is the marketing ploy behind this.  What are they trying to sell?

Look on the bright side: if SCS is a flop, the SimCity 5 name will be reserved for a more, how should I say it, faithful sequel. That's one advantage of separating it from the standard naming convention...

Monies and lots of it..

Picture this:

EA Deathstar:

EA Slave: Ohmy goodness, Monte Cristo just brought out a city building game that threatens one of our acquisi- I mean, products sire.

EA Fatcat: This must not be tolerated! To the BAT mobile!

EA Slave: The what now?!

EA Fatcat: Hire minions to rival City Life, we must release a game to rival it!

EA Slave: Like Simcity 4, Sire?

EA Fatcat: Simcity what?

I don't blame EA. Are they putting this out for money? You betcha ... but why is that a problem? Hello, it's a business. Good for them, if they can make another buck.

I don't blame TM. They are building a "new idea." For a new true sequel, it must be a completely new game, not just SimCity 4.5. It needed a fresh idea. And I'm sure TM could do fine job to make the real thing.

I just don't think they have the right idea.

I echo the sentiment, it's very disappointing that they're essentially going backwards to make this turn. Taking away things we love, rather than keep what we love and add what a newer audience may need. They're sacrificing the veterans, not listening to them. I don't think it was a conscious decision, but a colossal mistake and a bad business decision. The veterans know that the seemingly-overwhelming array of "complexities" we call "options" are what make the game so interesting years after its release. People are STILL buying SC4. Veterans aren't going to buy less than what they already have. The "newbies" will quickly get bored if it's whittled down to a kindergarten wooden-blocks type game. SimCity <anything> could be a blockbuster if it stayed true to its niche. But I see this thing in the bargain bin within a year. Maybe then I'll buy it, if I find enough spare change in my couch.

I blame both ea and tm, ea for giving simcity to tm , and tm for giving us a piece of Edited of a game, come on think of what the people want, this is not a game for 5 year old

here's what Scipio said... "It makes me think of this:

I know they're trying to get money. That's why I don't understand why they keep telling us what they're throwing away. Thay're telling us what we will NOT be getting for our $$.

I know they want money so I don't understand why they think I'll buy a stripped down version of SC3K. Stop telling me what I will NOT get for my money and tell me what I WILL get.

Obviously we're all too smart for this game.
