What is your favorite game in the SimCity series?

I'd have to say mine is SimCity 3000 Unlimited.

It's very fun, it has the best music and I just plain like it a lot. 48.gif

Not too simple, not too complex.

I have only played 3 of the SimCity games though, the original, 3000 and 4.

I'd put 4 second, because it 's way too complex for its own good.

I'd put the original last as it's way too simple and just bad.

I don't have any mods for all of the 3, though.

I have never played 2000, how is it?

Finally, what is your favorite SimCity game?

Edit: Oh darn it, this is the wrong forum isn't it? 15.gif

it's a toss up between Sim City 2000 (which I played for years, and years and years after buying it on its release day) and SC4. I didn't like SC3000 at all.

i like smicity 4, because of the vast amount of user created buildings and modifications to the game you can download.

but simcity 3 unl. comes close because i played it for years as a kid, and it  was just a great game

My favorite is SC4, because I'm crazy enough to enjoy having to manage all the traffic & water pollution & stuff. SC2 was a nice simple game but it gets old rather quickly.

SC2K is my fave. Then about a foot down, SC4. Look about another foot down and find SC3K. Three inches off is SimCity Classic. Then, about a few hundred miles....SimCity Societies.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

SC2K was my favorite as well.  Besides the simple, clean gameplay I loved the humor in that game!

Don't get me wrong, especially withan active mod community breathing constant new life into SC 4 (thanks all!), SC 4 is an awesome game.

I too enjoy the complexity of SC4, although I think it shouldn't be too much more complex than it is (with Rush Hour). That said, the change in direction with Societies might not be a bad thing. If it doesn't work out, then there just might be another....I guess we can use the term "oldschool" now....SC title.

2K was great for its day but was very dated by the time 3K came around. My problems with 3K were more performance-related than gameplay, which I liked. And without Classic we wouldn't be having this discussion or this forum.

I was actually introduced to SC on the Super NES. All of the console SC2K ports were horrible. Some things just need to stay on PC.

Everyone forgot about Streets of SimCity LOL! Ok, that's not really part of the series and was actually a terrible game, but the concept was good. At the time the computing power did not exist to make it what it should have been. Now that technology has caught up, I would like to see another game like this; just think SimCity + Grand Theft Auto: That would be awesome!

For my real vote I would also have to say SC4 b/c it looks the best and even in vanilla form it has more useful features than the others. Also, since my discovery of this site last year, the amount of customization is almost limitless. Each city can truly be unique. Finally I like region setup since you no longer have to connect to invisible cities off the map and each city influences the others (though it does add almost too much complexity to the game).

As others have said though, we wouldn't be here if not for the original game, though I would suspect the series gained the most followers with SC2000. Heck I remember playing it before I even had a computer. It was loaded on one of the two machines at the pubic library and people could keep their cities there saved on a floppy disk. It was great until someone needed to use the computer for actual work lol! SC2000 would be 2nd on the list for sure.

I have to go for the original version. I know it seems very simplistic now, but when it came out it was revolutionary. There was no other game like it.

I still remember playing it on my old Spectrum for hours on end back in 1989, and then again on the Amiga in the early 90s.

SC4 would be second, 3000 was too easy and I never played 2000.

I've never played it, but I heard it was a total POS in terms of programming glithces. I absolutely loved Sim Copter though, it's still one of my favorite games of all time.
