Mikeseith

Simlooney2000- Author behind many Toronto buildings amongst other things.

Crazydannah- Made London buildings, the petronas and many other things.

Vanderaap

Phantom435- i remember seeing his old BATs, in what it's called again,  Freeland forums? well anyway he was arround with couchpotato and all those blokes.

Walther Van De furth- Alot of oil tanks, really useful stuff!

Bszburnz- Old skoool stuff!!

GaryReggae's bats are all being updated to get building property values set in accordance with the values developed while making Wouanagaine's "X" Tool.

A mega prop pack with all GaryReggae's props and buildings is about to be uploaded on the BSC LEX, and the updated lots will follow soon after that.44.gif

Why's that? I mean, the prop pack. If I like one of his buildings, I download one. If I like two, I download two. If I like all of them, I download all.

What's the point in forcing anyone to download a huge mega pack and then some lots when this increases bulk and makes things more complicated because I always need at least one download more compared to a usual "building + associated lots" package?

If I'm interested in file packaging, I run wouana's packer tool over my files, and that's it. Then I got all I really want, nothing I don't want, not a byte of unnecessary or unused stuff to go through my internet connection line or into my plugins folder, and I got it all wrapped up nicely. What's the benefit of all those prop packs composed of the actual buildings? This is not intended to be an attack of any kind, I just haven't managed to understand it ever since I saw it for the first time, and I am still without understanding it. It sounds as logical to me as bringing the garbage out by walking downstairs on your hands and carrying the can between your legs. It's perfectly possible, yeah, but...?

The only useful application I see is a series of lots with several of his similar buildings (e.g. Canberra/Sholing towers and what they are called) at once, and a prop pack of the corresponding towers. Even so, the towers could remain as independent downloads, and the multi-tower lots could ship with a .dat that contains the prop descs of the towers. The tower models themselves would remain in the original upload package.

Of course, by all means do what you want, though. It's fine with me. I have no stake in that matter, it just strikes me slightly odd. 2.gif

t wrecks.. the mega prop pack will probably be for the CAM.. on the LEX there have been a very big number of prop pack uploads, all for the development and future release of the CAM.

T Wrecks, I believe you are familiar with the BSC Cleanitol.

I compiled the mega pack and made the Cleanitol txt file, which contained 24 lines. In other words, the mega pack is one file instead of 24 files.

After that I tested my newly created txt file with Cleanitol, and was rather surprised to find no less than 50 files to backup. I am certainly not as organized as you are with my plugins folder, but I have to admit I did not expect to find that many duplicates and triplicates.

The total size of the mega pack is 7,825 kB, the size of those 50 files being removed (backed up) was 15,922 kB.

I am not saying that this is what everybody will experience, especially not occasional downloaders who only want one or two bats here and there. However, using mega packs and letting Cleanitol take care of the cleanup significantly reduces the otherwise rather tedious work of checking your plugins for duplicates and outdated versions.

I have more than once heard people telling how astounded they have been with the amount of useless, outdated files found in their plugins folders, when they've used the Cleanitol for the first time. Based on my own very recent experience I can only recommend every serious SC4 player to download every available mega pack and run Cleanitol with the txt file included.

In the case of GaryReggae's bats, those five towers, the Canberra Tower, the Maybrush Towers, the Millbrook Towers, the Redbridge Towers and the Sholing Towers will be set into an R$ building family of stage 9 for the CAM. Making a family of several buildings is a lot easier if those building models are contained in a single dependency, instead of having multiple ones to download. Particularly in this case where the old lots are not CAMpatible and would have to be removed by the user himself.
