rename cheat

I am renaming all the cities in a region by using the cheat in the city whererufrom and there's a bug or something. Say I want to name the city New York. If I type-

whererufrom New York

-the city name becomes New without the York. The only way to do it is to type New-York or something like that.

Has anyone else noticed this??

Rumor has it that if you say New York with the quotes, it will work

Never thought about the quotes thingy lol...I bet that it prolly works though.

A Simple - or _ works for me

yea I noticed the same thing....if you wanted a two word name....the only way it worked is if you typed NewYork with no space...the whole name would show up, but with no space.   But THEN i figured out you need to type .....   whererufrom New York  and it will show up....no hyphen needed.

I don't consider renaming a city a cheat but that is besides the point. The whererufrom edit box does not accept a space so you have to use keyboard character code. Simply type Alt+0160 in the edit box between words to create the space.

Example:

New[Alt+0160]City[Alt+0160]Name

will produce

New City Name

whererufrom New York

 

works just the same to produce New York

Is there a cheat to rename a region, I've heard that there is but I'm not sure how to make it work or if its different from the whererufrom code.

Go into the region folder in My Documents and rename the actual folder itself.  This is not in the game.
And by the way, the quotes thing works with hellomynameis in addition to whererufrom.

So if I change the region folder name in My Documents will the new name show up in SC4 when I load the region?

So just a recap:  type your city name in quotes for it to display exactly

if you have a name with spaces inbetween surround it by double quotes (). E.g.
>whererufrom New York
Warning: Just a change in the upper- lowercase spelling will result in a loss of the city! give it first a temporary name! E.g. your city is named new york and you want to change it into New York
