You *should* be able to, however, music won't play in the radio/mayor folder if it's in a sub-folder, so you can forget about having your music organized. I find its easier to just use your media player/winamp/whatever you use while playing, and turn the game sound off. Even with my ancient machine, I don't notice any drastic performance issues.

I've done the same thing as Teddah on many an occasion. That said, I don't do it often, because switching back and forth between the music player and SC4 takes a long time, and interupts game play too much for my taste. In addition, I tend to zone out while playing and ignore most of the music that comes out of the game...

don't know if it'll make a difference, but itunes plays music in mp4 format. i haven't tried listening to my itunes music in-game, so i'm not sure if there would be a format compatibility issue (SC4 might only be able to play mp3 files).

There's no way that SimCity 4 can play your iTunes music - and this has nothing to do with the file format. iTunes has to check the Internet to make sure that you have the rights to play the songs you have. iTunes music is encrypted with a bunch of stuff, too. One solution I found was to get a wire that directly connects two sound devices and plug the audio-out directly into the microphone jack. Another incredibly pricey solution might be to get an iPod.

I'm rather fond of my 250 CD collection. All I had to do was loose all my DRM collection *once* moving from machine to machine to decide I didn't want to play with DRM anymore. Since I have to go from machine to machine over the years, I'd rather have backups that I trust are portable. DRM isn't it.

Having said that, I'd 'like' to have SimCity trigger music on events, but what I would 'like' and what works well practically are two different things. Playing my audio on Windows Media on a 'City' playlist fills the ticket well enough.
