Realistically scaled cities

So I noticed in another thread that a small tile is 1kmx1km, med 2x2, and large 4x4.  --> The average maxis region is 16x16km ~ 10x10 miles.  Now, I am positive that many, many cities are far larger than 100 square miles.  This means that if you want to make a whole city, you should make it around 40x40 med tiles or around 50x50 miles.  I'm way too lazy for that.

That's why I began thinking: at what distance from the core does urbia end and suburbia begin?  Because on the regional view, my region's urban region fills up the 10x10 block, and I was wondering how much more med/high density tiles I need to build before I can just make a few standard suburban clone tiles in order to fill the rest of a 80kmx80km region.

Btw, I'm wondering who else has thought of this (cloning suburban tiles in order to quickly fill up a giant, realistically scaled region).

You're right, the regions are too small. I used the SC4 Terraformer to create a new region of somewhere around 55x55 small tiles,

then used the Landscape designer to configure it so I could transport the regions of New York and Timbuktu, city by city, exactly the way they look, into one huge region, with a huge ocean in between the two. Both the SC4 Terraformer and Landscape Designer are avaliable on this site; the former in the Modds and Downloads section, the latter in the STEX.

    Keep calm and take photographs.
