Slow motion after monorail

Hello, I am very new here.  My problem is that no matter what size city I am building on, everything goes into slow motion as soon as  I build a monorail.  All of the cars and people move fine, but it slows the day progression.  This happens in day or night, even in God mode. I was wondering is this is a bug of some sort.  I run SimCity4 deluxe off of a 300g external hard drive with 93% free space, while my main tower has 40g with 27% free space.  My other specs I am not sure of, but I don't believe this is a graphics card or virtual memory issue because I run The Sims 2 with all expansions on high graphics settings (no problems seeing special effects such as fish in the water) on this same computer (Sims 2 is on the main tower).  I don't have any custom content for my SimCity4 game either.

Welcome, mamapotter. Maybe the extra data for the monorail makes the difference, with the speed of the external hard drive. I use monorail quite extensively, and don't notice a slow down. That's the best I can do, it's not much help I know. I am assuming you have all the upgrade patches, etc.

actually, I dowloaded an update last night from the official site, but haven't tried the game since...I'll have to check and see if that works, thanks!
