need help plz

i finally went and got another pc,since my another one died a year ago and i went to install sim city 4 and when it finish the install i got a message saying that it could'nt copy "sim city_5.dat " file.so i tryed to play the game and after being in game for a min it shuts down and boot me back to desktop does anyone know where and how i can dl the sim city_5.dat file ?

Try cleaning your CDs and reinstalling, maybe?

You can copy it from the CD, to the folder where files 1 through 4 are.  The files on the CD are not compressed, or encrypted.

i had tryed cleaning the cd but still no go and i tryed copying from cd to the folder but it stop almost at end of copying and gives me the same message that it cant copy sim city_5.dat

Did you try deleting the origional 5 dat first? If all else fails, the game is not that pricey anymore.

i have a similar problem with sound.dat but the "new" computer is OLD i just got it last thanksgiving (usa) but it can barely keep up with sc3k.

You could easily have a different problem.  Please start a new topic, and describe the machine you are using.

i looked in my sim city 4 folder and there no sim city_5.dat at all and i tryed to reinstall it and even copy that file from cd but no good do u think ea will give me that file if i send them a email? i hate to buy another cd when i only need that one little file

Well, no they won't. But why do you have trouble copying the file. You should be able to drag it into the folder.
