NBA or NFL?

Should there be a law which forces Congress to actually read the bills they pass?

So which of these groups of neanerthals has the following record?

NBA OR NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

19 have been accused of writing bad checks

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently are defendants in lawsuits. and

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet? . . . Scroll down,

Neither, it's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

Heh, that is hilarious, and not in the least surprising. Anyone know that Mark Twain quote about Congress...? I can't recall it right now...

Besides, why is it CONgress? Shouldn't it be PROgress? I guess not, since they don't really do anything to advance society.

Barbarossa: Pro is short for "proponent" and con is short for "considerations." Thus, "pro" and "con". The "con" in congress is from the Latin for "come together." Just to clarify. 2.gif

And I'd also like to agree with you... it's not very surprising. Here in Michigan, we have a local politician named L. Brooks Patterson. He's been pulled over for DUI three times. Looks like being in politics comes with a hefty social price. 4.gif And they hardly ever get the same punishments as normal citizens, much like our professional sports players and other celebrities. It's a sad state that we live in when status supercedes the natural rule of law.

Congress just passed themselves a $15,000 a month pension for life after serving one term.

Also considering that the suckers don't pay into Social Security, and are already set for life when they leave office, it is evident that government always cares more for itself than for those it is supposed to represent.

I have always been a fan of the statement "I love my country, but I fear my government". Since I tend toward Libertarianism (even though I consider myself to be Liberal), this phrase has always been appropriate. And, no, I am far from a militiaman.

On a slightly side note, why isn't anyone in the US concerned that we only have two political parties? There is more to the world than this black and white BS that we have to endure. There is more to life than the current fixations we have re: abortion, the environment, and God. These seem to be hot topics today. Oh, and Hot Topic is not punk rock!

Human nature my freind... Human bloody nature.

A lot of people I go to University with find those very reports a typical problem that come from thier erratic and educationaly-abusive life.

And they say we are growing up into a brighter and bolder future?

We're screwed man... When the next generation takes over I'm heading for the hills.
