Developing my city, need suggestions

I've made a city, it's actually just a experimential city because I'm ***** and need to try some things out, so i made it in a small regionsquare.

Anyways, the residential/commercial city is connected to an industrial city. My residential areas almost covers all of the map. I've built middle density most of it, and a few high density. Every area is 4x4 zone with each building being a 1x2 zone. In the middle I have elementary school, library, museum and the two schools following elementary (I play in swedish so I don't know the exact names in english).

Health care, education, PD and FD covers all the city and everyones  happy and so, and most of my population are middleclass people, with some high class aswell.

In my industrial city I'm out of money, I just don't earn any money. I had a deal for power and garbage before, but I managed to screw that up :S. Anyways, here I have some hitech industries, alot of dirty, and a few farms.

Now my problem is this: I need more citizens, but I've realized that I can't keep expanding like I've done so far. I'm thinking that it must be possible to build on the height. My commercial zones are almost exclusively middle class business.

How can I improve my buildings to house more people and become scyscrapers? Really my question is, how do I improve my zones to house more people/become better commercial zones/become pollutionfree industry? All my rich/middleclass people just build mansion and crap 15.gif

Long and ***** post but I hope you get the idea!

I'm not an expert, but sooner you will see tall residencial buildings, when there no more land to zone the tall buildings start to show. Also you may want to lower the taxes for R$$$.

Tae- Of course alot of things can factor in.  Without a pic, I'm assuming you have all the necessities (i.e. water fd pd etc. like you have stated).  Sounds like your EQ is at least 120 from your schools.  Add the University/ City Colleges if you don't already have it.

Next I'd pick an area your want to expand upward and query it, check all the stats and zone high density.  Add an extra bus stop or sub, or whatever you are using for transportation.  Even deleting a park and replacing it will help, as the initial placement is a boost to the area.  Adjusting taxes slighting and making more demand also help.  Also think about zoning some 4v4 industry surrounded by parks so some IHT will grow in your res city.  They probably wont grow in your Heavy Dirty Industry City due to pollution, and they have no ill effects in a res city and it helps commute times.

So rich people with good education and cool jobs, and good infrastructure will give me scyscrapers. I'll try it out.

Will the scyscrapers house more people than the mansions now, because I need a few thousand more citizens, but I'm out of space 15.gif.

(Why cant I write no ob when it's about myself? :S)

its actually easier to expand your population first with poor people, and then turn the city into a well educated utopia after you've got the population to build larger buildings.

See if you have a landfill so that the garbage isnt pilling up, cause if it is, it might be limiting growth.
