Farming Limit

Is it possible to limit the type of farms that develop? I've downloaded many types of farms from the Exchange, but they all develop at once (including the vanilla game ones). Most regions in the real world only grow one or two types of crops at once; it's unrealistic to have corn, pole beans, hay, peanuts, flowers-well, you get the point. I want to grow just one crop (corn in particular). Any suggestions?

Thanks y'all.

I don't grow farms but I think you could do this:

Download the Block All Maxis Buildings mod and select the DAT file that blocks the vanilla farms from growing. Place this DAT file in your plugins folder.

If you can (this is only for Rush Hour or Deluxe), determine the tile set of the farms you want to grow, if it is Chicago, New York, Houston, or Euro (although I'm not sure if farms have unique tile sets). When you know the farm's tile set, go to building style control and select the tile set/s of the farm/s you want to grow and unselect the tile sets that grow the undesired farms.

Finally, have the demolishing tool ready for the remaining unwanted farm development.

There could be a better method than this though.

Alright Deever, I did what you said, but the trick is I'd like to grow only the farms that I've gotten off the exchange, in particular, SG's corn. Perhaps a few more crops if I can swing it.

I downloaded the block all Maxis building mods, but when I put in the IR block in, I still get the vanilla farms (I even started another city). Should I put it in the C: drive SimCity plugin folder, would that make a difference? Furthermore, I don't know what tileset SG or any of the other farms would be under, do you know how to figure this out?

I'd love some more advice if the community is willing to give it to me. Thanks y'all.

Well, this is my last chance. If anyone can give me a hand by figuring out how to limit which type of farms grow, that would be great. I really need some help here. Let me know, thanks y'all.

Farms don't use the tilesets, like all other industrial buildings. I haven't checked out the Maxis farm blocker that was mentioned above, but I made one myself a while ago, and it works fine. I think the best way to limit the number of crops is to modify the farm lots (the ones with the farm buildings, not the farm fields). The building exemplar file contains a property called "Farm Fields", which holds the ID of the farm field lots. You will have to find out the IDs of the fields you like (i. e. corn), and add only those, but delete all others. Depending on the number of custom farm lots you have installed, it might be a tedious work, but I'd say it's worth the effort.
