Immediate Crashing

SC4 on my computer starts fine. When in region view, I click on a city to continue with, I start by plopping a few buildings, building some roads or something like that and then when I press 'play' to start the simulation - the game immediately crashes back to desktop. It has happened five times now. I don't what's causing it - whether it's a certain lot or what.

    Could someone help?

    Thanks, Mike the Mayor

Try re-installing.if you have plugins you'll want to make a backup of them

There is no play to press, so please tell us what you are really doing.

These crashes are quite common and have many causes.  Please tell us more about your machine.  To get a handle on this we need:

    1. Build version of the game.  (right click on the exe and look at the version display)
    2. Operating system and update status
    3. CPU(s) type and speed

    4. Graphics card and driver
    5. Sound driver
    6. Memory RAM and Virtual (swap file) settings
    7. The first twenty lines of your last Exception Report
without this stuff, we are all just guessing.

N_O_Body: yes there is :S If you look at the bottom you have a pause button and you have three speeds of 'play' so that was a really 'moosey' statement you made. Anyway, my game has started crashing a lot more often as well. I think it is one of the downloads that is causing a conflict with NAM as it usually only crashes when using the light rail pieces. It is not, and I repeat, is not the user's computer as so many technicians the world over keep blaming (when ultimately it is often found to be a program error!)

So, Mike, ultimately, you should go back to the last downloads/plugins you put into the folder since you last played when the game didn't crash. Remove all, and try them one by one. When you get to the one that crashes your system, you'll have identified the offending culprit and you will be able to exclude it from your game as its possibly causing a conflict with another download.
