how many still use rails?

My life revolves around rails, i travel on them near enough everyday, i even design railways using CAD (TRS2009 :-D). I do use it in the game but dont really make huge junctions or stations as i have only just started to make more realistic cities.

I use them quite often; I mostly build cities that resemble much of the Midwestern US half of the time, and most of those cities have railways running through them.

It also leads to rather bizarre city designs.

i use monorail as often as i could. heavy rail is usually relegated to freight duties while some of my rural cities use heavy rail for commuting as well. most of my cities have a rapid transit system of some type, be it GLR, El rail, T-RAM, or default subways. only a few cities of mine doesn't use the rapid transit system. one of them uses in game water and in game ferries as the main sim mover.

Isn't monorail more expensive? I know, it's faster but still..........Also, it takes up alot of space.
