No cd present error right after fresh installation

Hey, it seems my computer and the sim city 4 disk don't get along to well.

I installed simcity about 5 times already on my second pc and everytime after installing it the game gets to 100% and the waith a second box appears and when that leaves i get an error saying that I should insert the disk press OKE and start again.

i really don't know whats going on here it runs and installs perfectly on my old pc.

This are my specs:

i wonder if its the HP DVD Writer 300n thats in the pc, could that be not seeing the cd ?

I recently had this problem myself. I would finish installing the game, and go to run it and it would give me the nocd error. I installed the two updates with no success. What worked for me was doing a restart and then loading the game. It seems like a stupid question, but have you rebooted your pc since the install?

Failing that:

1. Check the HP site for new CD drivers and Firmware
2. Turn off autoplay on the CD.

well i bought me a new cd and it works perfectly

crazy enough the old cd wont install on my new pc but it installed no problems on my brothers pc. . .

whatever got a fresh disk and its running again

Strange.  Did you get new firmware/drivers for the old drive?  It must have been a really old drive.

the drive is about 1.5 years old (as is my entire pc) and its a cd and dvd burning drive.

for some strange reason the new cd works like a charm.
