Solar Plant: More than one?

A while back I received the Solar Power reward by having enough High Wealth Sims. I built it because it's just slightly cheaper than Wind, yet still 100% clean. I wanted to then build only Solar from then on, but found it to be greyed out - do you earn just one Solar Power plant and never receive another? Seems a little ridiculous... .

Is there a Mod that just unlocks Solar Power permanently to be built immediately and indefinitely? It's 2006 people.

I've never noticed this before... not in the past.

I wouldn't know anything about it really because I never use solar power, but its an interesting dilemma.

That happened to me as well, Soopahman. In fact, I've had the solar plant get old, and when I tried to replace it, the menu was greyed out. I THINK it was because of the fluctuations in the number of high wealth simps. They had fallen below the required number. But you definitely CAN have more than one at a time. I had three going in one city. As it continued to grow, I think I got to five (at least) when I noticed that they really were not cost effective in those numbers and started replacing them with other types. (The game really DOES need a high capacity power plant for those 500,000+ cities where huge amounts of real estate aren't eaten up. Say one 8x8 or 10x10 power plant priced accordingly as far as the high cost for high capacity.)

hit "CTRL"+"X" type in "you don't deserve it"  type thisin the blue box that appears in the top left hand corner...spaces included in the line.....hit enter....this unlocks all the rewards in the game

theres also a  reward unlocking mod by Ralphninja in the mods and dowload secetion as a plugin that does the same thing...just need to pop it in the plugins folder

or try Buggis new cheat codes revealing mod...all three will function in the same manner...just a matter of chioce

there are few other rewards that will disappear on you in the menus once in a while even though you have the set requirements to be able to place it....University reward does this to me all the time think it's just a glitch...there are other rewards this can happen to...if condictions are right...I have no idea why

LOL

Those are some pretty funny tricks.

A lot of the mods that would solve minor issues I have go so far that I feel like I'd be cheating and lose the challenge, so I'm not willing to use them.

I can double-check on my High Wealth Sims but, with a population over 80,000 I can't see how I possibly have below 3,000 High Wealth Sims (the requirement for Solar). Must be a danged glitch.

As for cost-effectiveness, try maxing out the funding on the Solar Plant; it will get down as low as 19 cents per MegaWatt, which is great for 100% clean energy. Wind can get to about 23 cents it seems. To move from Wind to Solar effectively, let Power demands max your Power budget, then just as they overwhelm it a little build the Solar; then, reduce the Power budget and max out the Solar - cheap, clean energy.

If only I could just build a second one! Wind is filling up my city! I might cave and enable all Rewards afterall... .

Thanks for sharing your resolution, Soopahman! That's a new one for me. I had no idea that building the mayor's house would affect a solar plant's availability. Last thing I would've thought of. Learn something new every day!

As long as you meet the requirnments you should be able to put as many solar plants as you desire, I have put more then one solar plant, so I know its possible

Just make sure we have some visual proof that you can indeed have more than one solar plant I give you Solar Park in Rive Creek, Newtopia Valley (no cheats or mods were used to make this pic possible):
